<!-- -->Associated Press - April 12, 2009 10:14 PM ET
TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - A Tucson man has pleaded guilty to embezzling $644,000 from the Desert Diamond Casino.
The U.S. Attorney's Office said 31-year-old Adam Vega worked as a slot floor person.
A U.S. Attorney's Office spokeswoman said the theft is the largest by a casino employee since casinos became legal in Arizona.
Vega entered the plea Friday in Tucson.
Authorities said Vega stole the money from the casino by "fraudulently" obtaining the passwords of supervisors and generating fraudulent jackpot override tickets.
Vega will be sentenced June 19.
He faces up to 20 years in prison and a maximum fine of $1 million in the casino theft. Vega also pleaded guilty to a tax evasion charge and faces up to five years in prison and a $100,000 fine.
