When people say to "chase" a baseball team, does that just mean the opposite of fade? Thanks :toast:

Simply put, 'chase' means to follow up a losing bet with another bet to recover the initial loss.
(never a good idea)

To fade means to take the other side.
For instance a lot of people liked the Mets yesterday, I 'faded' the Mets and went with Johnson and the Marlins.

Fade in craps means to bet somebody will 'crap' out or 'seven out' if you will.

Got it thanks. So chasing is basically the Martingale system in sports betting....when you say that it isn't a good idea it that because of the juice, or because chances aren't 50/50 and a long losing streak is much more likely?

chasing isn't recommended because you just suffered a loss and are vulnerable to making poor decisions with your money. An example would be one taking the yankees yesterday, and one would be so furious with the bullpen collapse that they would take a night game without really looking into it to make up for their losses.

I agree with the jist of what you all are saying, however in some instances such as nhl, mlb, or nba play-offs a chase can be a good way to win. I will (sometimes) chase teams that are up 3-0 in a series. Now with this chase, you may have to lay a lot of juice but the chances are stacked greatly in your favour of winning. BOL....btw, I love Ann Arbor, my buddies and I frequently travel to watch Michigan football.
