I was just at one of these auctions recently... they are usually for dealers only....

the prices were good... but not overwhelmingly great or anything like that.

I would look at eBay if you are looking at used. Someone who sells a lot of cars won't want to sell you a lemon as the negative feedback really does affect them.

My 2 cents...

Due to rebates and other great offers, there is NO WAY that i would purchase anything but a BRAND NEW CAR at this time. You get 100,000 mile warranties so you know that you wont have any trouble for the first 4-5 years

bought a 1999 Honda Civic DX ... 90K on it from an auto auction for 2200. was in good shape except for the AC which I put 500$ into to fix and also it needed a radiator 300$ ... car is worth about 4900 from what people tell me

auctions are a good place if you know what your looking for

NEW cars from dealers are a waste of money you pay and pay and pay once you drive off the lot you drop a ton of value right there on the car... its not the way to go anymore save the 400$ a month for 5 yrs payments on a new car you would have and put it in savings

You would be hard pressed to be further from reality. A vehicle like the one bought by Dante is about as cheap as one can get around.

If you insist on the reliability of a "new" vecicle, buy a 2 or 3 year old vehicle with 20 or 30 thousand miles at an auction. Any dealer will represent you for 200 or 300 dollars.

Best luck.
