Heaps has been among the region's top signal callers since his sophomore year. In terms of scholarship offers, no quarterback is being recruited more heavily than Heaps .

He said he like Kifen and the rabid fans and that they are building state of the art training facility's and blah blah blah.

The guy was very articulate was recruited by Harvard also so braniac no doubt.

I've seen this before they always chose the power house,he spoke of LSU's offensive line he will cope out and go there.

Can not blame him though.

He said when he opened Miss States envelope they had glossy pictures of beautiful cheerleaders and jokingly said if he could get hooked up with the top right he's there...........LOL

Money can't buy you happiness, but it can buy you a better-looking wife.

A news release issued by a publicist on Wednesday noted that Heaps has made his college decision and will announce it today, although the time and place was not finalized. A source said it would take place in Provo, possibly at a location near LaVell Edwards Stadium.
"Heaps anticipates releasing more information regarding time and place as it becomes available," said the release.
Heaps, who is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, has been scheduled for months to attend BYU's annual Junior Day, which is Friday in Provo.
According to the release, Heaps had offers from 26 programs as of June 1. He recently narrowed his list of favorites to BYU, Washington, LSU, California and Tennessee.
BYU and Washington have been considered the front-runners for the past few weeks.
Heaps is 28-0 as a starter for Skyline High in Sammamish, Wash., leading his team to state championships as a sophomore and a junior.

His list of universities seems a strange mix to me. The LDS thing explains part of it, but Wash U being on the same list w/ LSU and Tenn?

Sarkisian can attract some offensive talent with his past resume.

Hell Joe's son might sign there.

Losing Heaps to BYU might seem to be a bad break for new Washington coach Steve Sarkisian, as Heaps is a local kid who has said the Huskies were his favorite team growing up. But I don't think it's a negative situation for Washington. I am not so sure Washington felt he was its No. 1 guy on the board. The Huskies are hot after a couple of other blue chippers in Nick Montana (Westlake Village, Calif./Oaks Christian), who reportedly will visit UW this weekend, and Jesse Scroggins (Lakewood, Calif.).

<!-- end mod-article-title --> <!-- begin story body --> From a football standpoint, 2010 quarterback prospect Jake Heaps (Sammamish, Wash./Skyline High) made the smartest decision for his collegiate career by choosing to play for the Brigham Young University Cougars.
Heaps' strengths -- the ability to get rid of the ball quickly, his nice feel for anticipation and timing and his consistent accuracy -- make him an ideal fit for BYU's spread system. At the same time, the Cougars' offense won't require him to beat defenses vertically. That fact is very much of benefit to Heaps, who has moderate-to-good arm strength.
Talentwise, Heaps is capable of contributing early in Provo, Utah. Football, however, isn't the only factor that led him to pick BYU. It is very possible that Heaps will put his pigskin aspirations on the back burner to take a Mormon mission in the next few years. With that variable in play, it's hard to predict when Heaps will take the reins at BYU. Still, I would expect him to be of starting caliber and to succeed during his tenure with the Cougars program.

A commitment in the weight room will be huge for Heaps' development. He'll never be the tallest quarterback -- I expect him to top out at 6 feet or 6-1 -- so he'll need to add bulk and improve his arm strength through weight training. Heaps' lack of size is a bit of a negative, but it really shouldn't hinder his career at the collegiate level, considering he'll be in the shotgun much of the time. BYU has had tremendous success with similar guys such as Ty Detmer and Max Hall.

Luginbill needs to do some research ... even a cursory review of the local Seattle news media would have revealed: 1) Heaps parents have already indicated that he will not be going on a mission, 2) Heaps intends to graduate early to enroll at BYU in December and 3) as mentioned below Heaps is already listed at 6'2" (I know that may or may not be true). Sorry to see the Huskies lose him, but hopefully the Huskies will hit on Scroggins or Montana.

I dont see him at LSU unless he does the 2 yr stint 1st....

LSU has 2 very good QB's in house now...he can't beat out either 1 without redshirting. 1 is a redshirt freshman and the other is a true freshman....he'll ride the pine here at least 2 years...

The atmosphere was electric and you could feel the excitement in the air. Jake Heaps is a leader and it was clearly evident in how he presented himself. To have all three major, major recruits (Jake Heaps, "Randy Ross" Apo, and Zac Stout) announce their decision together made yesterday the single, greatest recruiting day in BYU history.

Not only that, but it was a great day for all those that hate the BCS.

BYU could sign the top 20 athletes on Rivals, they will not get a whiff of the National Championship game. Utah set the standard last year. Too bad.

Skyline football back on ESPN

The Skyline Spartans football team has scheduled two top-tier out-of-state opponents to play as part of its 2009 non-conference football schedule, according to a press release from the school’s athletic department.
Skyline will face Oaks Christian High School, of Westlake Village, Calif. at Skyline Stadium on Sept. 18 or 19, depending on television availability, the release said.
The game will be televised on ESPN2 or ESPNU.
Oaks Christian will present a lot of power on the field, as most of last year’s starters are scheduled to return. But the stands may also be filled with powerful people, the release said, as the sons of stars like Joe Montana, Wayne Gretsky and Will Smith play for Oaks Christian.
Oaks Christian finished the 2008-2009 season 14-0 and won its second straight southern section divisional title.
The Spartans also plan to face Jesuit High School of Portland, Ore. in the Emerald City Kickoff Sept. 5 at Qwest Field, the release said.
