I was just checking ticket prices for the New Yankee Stadium and came across The New York Daily News section that sells tickets to future games. I will admit there some affordable tickets in the outfield regions and other spots but what amazed me was a listing for four tickets in what they call the "Legends" section.

For four seats:

This is for a Friday night game on May 1st vs the Anaheim Angels.

Not to be picking solely on the Yankees I checked for four seats for this next Friday night at Fenway Park when the Yankees play the Red Sox. If you want to sit above the famous Green Monster.

Gosh, now that I think about it, I let my 2 Tampa Bay Bucs season tickets go because they kept raising the price & it got up to around $4500 for the year.

Considering the prices for only 1 game above, maybe I acted in haste & should have realized what a great deal I really had..........#%() lol yeah right

Guy I know had season tickets behind home plate at the old yankee stadium last year (4 seats). They sent him a letter telling him that it would be 800,000 for the 4 seats this year. he told them to go screw.

What ever happened to take me out to the ball game?

I spent half my summers from 1979-1993 there about in the Oakland Coliseum bleachers for 3-5 dollars a game.

Hell the parking cost that much,was the same people every day and Friday nights the high school kids just sorta hung out there.

They took Bart to the game paid there $3 to get in and was a gathering place.

Beers were affordable and we would get our hand stamped with beer in hand go to our car and fill up our cup.........LOL

Al Davis came back and fucked the whole thing up!

As Brian Adams sang........."Those were the best days of my life".

Talk about times changing.

Right Field Bleacher seats at Fenway Park in the late 1950s and early 1960s were 50 cents each for kids 12 and under, open seating.

Two quarters and you were in to see the likes of Ted Williams, Mickey Mantle, Rocky Colavito, Yogi Berra, Al Kaline, Moose Skowron, Jackie Jensen, Brooks Robinson, Hoyt Wlhelm, Nellie Fox, Minnie Minoso, Louis Aparicio, Early Wynn, Mudcat Grant and on and on I could go.

LMFAO. If most sports teams didn't have a TV deal, they wouldn't even break even. High ticket prices make up for the incompetence in the front office.

That's crazy stuff. Of course down here in DC as a Nationals fan....They have the 7th highest ticket prices in baseball along with the 4th lowest payroll. Whole sections that are overpriced to begin with are literally empty. Of course some of it is the fact that they suck.

I believe the Yankees have pretty much sold out the season except for the Premium seats Wil talked about. Look around the league and look at the premium seats behind the plate that are unsold, even Dodger Stadium.

One of the main reasons for high ticket prices.

Player salaries. For example the recently retired Mike Mussina an outstanding, even great and possibly Hall of Fame pitcher who played in 537 games (536 starts and 270 wins) in 19 years in the majors. During that time his gross salary was a grand total of $144,136,270. When you divide his total career earnings by his number of appearances 537 it works out to him avereging over his entire career the amount of $268,410 per appearance.

Small wonder seats go for what they do.

Well you price the tickets as to what the market will yield!

As soon as people stop paying that amount to attend the game, the prices will go down. But you have to know that those tickets would be gone for the first half of the season for sure!!
