I am not backing any side tonight, I will just let the hot batting team keep his hot bats going against an old pitcher who I think is coming back to earth after a surpringly 2008 season. The Padres are hot right now they have hit for 15,10 and 12 hits in the last 3 games and they did it against good opposition Hamels, Myers and Park(not that good) and that shows they are seeing the ball well lately, on the other hand we have this veteran pitcher who was on fire on 2008 but I think he is coming back to earth, in his last 2 outings he has pitched for 11 ip 16 hits and 8 er I dont see why he could comeback tonight against the padres hot bats, moyer historically allows about the same batting average at home and away so that doesnt bother me, actually last season moyer pitched a hell of a game at san diego but we know how pitchers park its petco but in his last 2 outings at home against the padres he got rocked, he pitched 10 ip allowing 19 hits and 12 er, he is prone to the long ball I think its gonna get ugly for him, his stats doesnt show that much against the padres lineup, Gonzales and Kouzmanof has nice stats against him but the rest not enough at bats to take a decision, eckstein hit him for .250 and giles gor .235 but thats it. In the bullpen area, I seriously dont trust anyone from the phillies, I dont think Lidge its good and he doesnt matchup well against this lineup, the only one I trusted is in the DL, looking at the past games I think we will see tashner in the game, he hasnt throw since the 16th, the only one that match up well against this lineup is Durbin but they dont use him that much, the rest dont have enough at bats to take a decision or they just dont match up well like Madson who allows them hit for .381 , Lidge for .286, Condrey for .417(just a few ab), etc. Actually Eyre thows them pretty well, my mistake but thats it and looking how this bullpen has been lately I will ride the hot batting team with 6 right handers batters in the lineup(without pitcher) against this veteran moyer and his bullpen.

Game: Colorado Rockies at Arizona Diamondbacks

Again a hot pitcher against a slow down lineup. Marquis comes tonight hot, in his last 2 outings he has 14 ip 10 hits 3 er and 4 BB and he is facing a team who has struggle with the stick lately, they have hit for 3, 7 and 1 hits in their last 3 games, this doesnt help them against a pitcher who historically has pitched well against them and who has pitched well in chase field. Also Marquis stats are significantly better on the road than at home, lets compare, last season he alloed opposition hit for .242 on the road compared to .290 at home, last 3 years he allowed .260 on the road compare to .280 at home, so he is one of those pitchers who feels more comfortable on the road than at home and I dont see why this would change tonight, his stats against this lineup are pretty good the only players who have hit well are Jackson(.364), Young(.333) and you could say Reynolds with .333 but just 6 ab, Marquis in his last game at chase pitch for 6 innings allowing 5 hits and 3 er, I dont see this changing but just improving, In the bullpen we have a rockies bullpen which hasnt been well lately but this was against a reallly hot dodgers team, this is the time to change, against a slow down team, and they also matchup well historically against them, I am looking to see Manny Corpas, Street, Rush and Grilli and the 4 of them matchup well, they allor a batting average of .206, .167(not enough ab), .226 and .258 , hey also have hammel who has been ok and my only concern is Embree, he has been terrible and he doesnt matchup well but they use him for just to take a left hander hitter out so I dont think its gonna be a big deal, so thats it I will back up a hot pitcher against a cold lineup with a bullpen which has matched up well historically and which I think is the day for them to show up...GL !!!
