This is just the beginning. I think you will start seeing all the top prospects in high school making a dash for Europe. Why play college hoops when you can play in Europe for a couple hundred k.

Its nutts, I know guys that have went to other schools to "think" they were better then everyone only to average around 12 points at Rock Hil Academy and then spend 3 years in college but they did get their degree. If his dad had any sense at all he would have let his son graduate from high school. Its going to get sick or am I gettin old at the age of 33?? I stayed close to home to play ball and won 2 championships, yes it was a community college but yes I ended up getting my 4 year degree at the U of north carolina. All in all I think if you get your high school diploma, then youre ready for the real world.

Try again. Bad analogy.

We are talking making $10 an hour to drop out of high school vs. gambling with millions.

I think the best move in a situation like this is to always take the money. We are talking about mid-six or even seven figures, which if managed correctly can provide income for life. Also, turning pro doesn't mean you have to stop your education. There are plenty of people who work and go to college at the same time. Especially these days, where many universities offer the exact same degree for online courses, there is no reason he can't do both.

Excellent move from a financial standpoint. Your avg. NBA player will be taking a pretty big cut in salary the next few years, and who knows if a CBA will be reached and a lockout isn't out of the question. The kid isnt going to waste a year in college and then get drafted into a league that may not have a season be played.

My diploma's have increased my earnings by about 1% of what this kid could make over the next two years

Senior year in high school was a blast, but nothing I learned that year in the class room has made any difference to me now. College was even more fun. . .

You're wrong.

Jennings skipped college, he has a high school diploma

This kid is skipping high school, he has no diploma of any kind

And yet he'll still be making more money than most of us. He'll probably make a million dollars in the two years, and then sign a set-for-life nba deal with guaranteed money.

He can always get a GED and even if he spends all his money and his career fizzles, he'll have a shot at coaching or something in the industry somewhere.

id bail too for the money. school is overrated these days. high school is essentially baby sitting and a teacher reading from a text book.
