The Red Sox are about to give new meaning to the term "bat boy."

Arthur Giddon will get the nod Saturday to be on the field for Boston's batting practice when the Yankees visit Fenway Park.

The catch? Giddon is a 100-year-old retired Connecticut lawyer. Joining the Red Sox on the field was a birthday wish the team decided to grant.
"I'm fighting macular degeneration," Giddon said, according to the Boston Herald, "but I can still enjoy watching a game because I recognize the shape of Big Papi (David Ortiz), and Kevin Youkilis is easy to spot by the way he bats, jumping up and down."
Giddon will be on the field with the team for pregame festivities and will be wearing a special No. 100 jersey, the reports said.
"I loved baseball all my life and I just can't believe I'm being called to sit there at the dugout with all these wonderful players," Giddon said, according to NBC2 in Florida.
Giddon has experience as a bat boy, too — he did the job for the Boston Braves in 1922 and 1923. "Who knows? Maybe the news will get down to Atlanta and I'll be able to do it for the Braves one more time," he said, according to the Herald.
