Selected notes for Sunday: We'll continue to ride the Roy Halladay train, especially against Jose Contreras, who has an 0-3 record and an ERA more than double that of our No. 1 pick for Sunday. … Jake Peavy will get his act together against a Pirates team against which he has a 5-1 record and 1.85 ERA for his career. … Jarrod Washburn hasn't lost yet in 2009, and facing Jered Weaver and his career 5.22 ERA versus the Mariners leads us to believe a 4-0 start is very much in the offing. … Jamie Moyer doesn't just have a good record against the Marlins, he has an unconscious record: 11-1 with a 2.95 ERA. … Jason Marquis has always pitched well in Coors Field. He's 4-0 with a 2.52 ERA, urging us to give him the nod over Clayton Kershaw, who has a 6.00 ERA in two starts there. … Russ Ortiz is an enigma. Although he has a 4.66 ERA at Minute Maid Park, he has never lost there in five decisions. Still, we don't see the Astros providing him with enough run support to overcome the mistakes he's bound to make against the Brewers. … As for Sidney Ponson, when your current ERA is higher than your 6.62 lifetime mark against the team you're facing, let's just say the writing is on the wall, and it's in permanent marker, no less.
