My System

I have a good handle on the MLB season almost a month through and have started posting my picks.

IMPORTANT: In baseball more than any other sport it is NOT about your record or your percentage of wins -- IT'S ABOUT YOUR GROWING BANKROLL.

I can sit here all day and pick the Yankees at (-215) or tell you to take the Blue Jays at (-190) when Halladay is on the hill. I WON'T DO IT.

I make my $$$ almost exclusively betting Dogs that I like and Favorites on the Run Line. The bankroll grows ALOT quicker when you aren't laying overpriced juice and bets on heavy favorites.

I will typically play match-ups, but may throw in an occasional Over/Under when I feel strong about something. I like to find the VALUE in my plays.

Each play is 1 Unit or $100 unless otherwise noted. Remember to bet each game based on whatever 1 Unit means to YOU.

As the season progresses I will begin putting more emphasis on certain bets and posting 2* and 3* Unit plays when they present themselves. For the first 2 months of the year I always recommend betting a consistent dollar value on each play until the season rounds into shape.

Grow the bankroll now and put it to work later.

Monday's Plays - 4/27

Plays for Monday 4/27

Marlins (A. Sanchez) over Mets (Maine)
BET 1 to win 1.3

The Fish are reeling right now, but I feel this is a good time for them to bounce back after getting swept by the Phils. Sanchez has been throwing the ball well and Maine won't light the world on fire. The Marlins have played well on the road this year and should be poised to put up a good effort against a division rival.

Braves RL *-1.5* (Jurrjens) over Cardinals (Pineiro)
BET 1 to win 1.5

After being swept during the last home series I expect the Bravos to show some pride and knock around the overachieving Pineiro on their home turf despite missing McCann from the lineup.

Reds RL *-1.5* (Cueto) over Astros (Oswalt)
BET 1 to win 1.75

Alot of folks will be on Houston for this game given Oswalt's history of success against the Reds. The fact of the matter is the Astros lineup is flat out anemic and despite Oswalt's best efforts I expect Cueto to keep their bats at bay in front of the home crowd.

Red Sox (Wakefield) over Indians (Lee)
Bet 1 to win 1.05

Trap game for the Sox after sweeping the Yanks? Perhaps. Perhaps not. Call me a homer, but I can't pass up the Sox as a small dog when they have won 10 straight and trot out Wake to the mound during one of his hot streaks. Not to mention a rested bullpen with Bowden and Saito closing out last night's contest. The Tribe haven't found any consistency yet and Cliff Lee is still doing his Jekyll and Hyde impersonation.

BET 1 to win 1.65

Cole Hamels hasn't been himself all season so I'll lean with the value on the Nationals to keep swinging hot sticks and put some runs on the board. I don't expect Lanaan to cough it up as easily as his counterparts did last night.

Pirates (Maholm) over Brewers (Bush)
BET 1 to win 1.25

Maholm has been Pitt's most consistent starter all season while Bush is prime to suffer a hangover after nearly missing a no-hitter last time around.

Reds RL *-1.5* (Harang) over Astros (Rodriguez)
BET 1 to win 1.75

Cueto and Oswalt both spun gems last night as the game was 1-1 until the 9th. Today I expect the Reds bats to wake up and Harang has been pitching well at Great American Ballpark.

Red Sox (Penny) over Indians (Reyes)
Bet 1.1 to win 1

Sox just continue to roll on both sides of the ball. Will back them to keep it up again with small chalk against a substandard pitcher in Reyes.

OVER 8.5 Blue Jays (Richmond) vs. Royals (Meche)
Bet 1 to win 1

I'm anticipating a run-fest in Kansas City tonight.

This is more plays than I normally do, but I feel there is a lot of value today.

Giants (Sanchez) over Dodgers (Billingsley)
Bet 1 to win 1.45

Giants have been playing tremendous ball by the Bay this year and Sanchez is a vastly underrated pitcher. Great value here on a home dog.
