True story: There's a kickboxer that fights out of the LA area and he only has 1 arm. The other one is just a small stub. Most fighters have no idea how to go about him so they usually lose. The guy has a few regional titles and is actually pretty good. Goes by the name of "One Arm Bandit" or something like that.
The sad thing about it is the guy took the bout because his kid had some sort of disability. People were booing the guy for fighting a smart fight and not going to the ground with a superior fighter which was ridiculous. You think Maynard wants a pity win? That little dude has too much of a fighter's heart to win that way. Going to the ground and not fighting a smart fight (staying outside, jabbing) would have been disrespectful to Maynard in a major way and I guarantee Kyle would never want it that way.
This little dude is a very accomplished wrestler who went against guys with limbs. With torso is so huge that in a wrestling match, he can dominate people once he gets ahold of them. In a MMA match where the other guy can keep his distance, it doesn't work nearly as well. If Maynard would have gotten ahold of the guy it's very possible the other guy wouldn't have been able to get back up. Maynard can also pull off some submissions. You gotta realize the guy he is fighting is like 135 pounds, same as Maynard, but the amputee has the torso of a 185 pounder. Much stronger.
