7pm Chicago Whitesox (Gavin Floyd) +115
What can i say, im not a big believer in what the royals are doing. Sure, the pitching has been the surprise of the young season thus far and Greinke is the early favorite of the CY Young, but 162 games has a funny way of evening things out and Kyle Davies is no Greinke. Davies looked very good in his last start out vs these White Sox pitching seven shutout innings because he stayed ahead in counts by throwing an eye popping 67 of 104 pitches for strikes. Combine that with the fact that the White sox have scored just 1 run in the last two games vs the Royals, you can make a good argument that Davies should be close to -150 tonight. But, you cant base the future solely on the past and the law of averages and utter randomness packed in with the pedigree of the better starting pitcher points to a nice play on the White Sox tonight.
Davies is an innings eater who really is nothing special. Floyd on the other hand, is a former 1st round pick (4th overall) who finally lived up to his potential and had the breakout season MLB's executives have been expecting by going 17-8 last season with 145 K's. Floyd has good movement on an above average fastball, but its curve ball that sets him apart. His 12-6 knee bending deuce has always been one of the games best and when you combine that with an emerging slider, its always tantalizing when you get him at this price vs such a weak hitting lineup. Nobody on the Royals scares me and the White Sox are just a much better hitting team in a funk who also should be getting Dye back. This is a big game for the White sox as well. Its the last game on a short road trip and going 2-3 is alot better then 1-4. look for the White Sox to end that 3 game slide tonight.
