have spent about 7k in improvements to home in last month...(windows,doors,painting,remodeled 2 bathrooms using miracle method, countertops etc)

well here is my question? i have been scraping wallpaper all day,it is a nightmare and messy as hell....and still have another full day at least of scraping....

when i am finished scraping should i just paint instead of installing new wallpaper(this is for kitchen and bathrooms)

this wallpaper has lasted about 15 years and i figure the new stuff would run out about the time i move on to my reward,so should i care because i will probably never have to scrape it again....

I would go with the paint myself. When you're done can you come by my house? I've got plenty of stuff you can fix...

never in a million years did i think i could have even done half of the stuff i have done on my own...but when you are poor you dig down deep inside yourself and figure out a way,and it helps to have good friends...

i would not be afraid to say i have added 25k to the value of my home with what i have done and could take it up another 7 or so with what is left(going to go with laminate wood flooring)

I hear ya, I try to fix things around the house myself when needed. I'm always so damn busy that it's hard to find the time. I'd like to try and put some laminate flooring in my youngest son's bedroom because of his allergies and stuff.

that is exactly why i am doing it....that and the fact that carpet itself could be the single most filthy thing in the world...just think how many times you have gone into public restroom etc and then came home and forgot to take your shoes off and walked on your carpet...or stepped in dogshit somewhere?

Yeah, we have no carpet downstairs, all ceramic tile and wood. We always take off our shoes before going upstairs as well.

what kind of paper is it? paper paper, foil faced paper if its foil you have to score it 1st and spray it with hot water ..... i mean flood it same with paper flood it with hot water ....get 1 of those garden sprayers wet a section then go back and spray it again let the hot water undo the paste and do all the work.... trust me i did this for a livin. you will want to throw down a drop cloth or towels at the base to catch the run off

They make a laminate flooring that is like tounge and groove plywood where you just snap it together and that is it. No nails or glue. It is very easy to put down (except hard on the back and knees but any flooring will be). I bought some at Sams Club a few years ago and it is very durable and excellent if you have kids/pets.
