Hello everyone, Noob here who needs advice :)

Hey guys, I've recently decided to get into sports "Investing" (lol), primarily NBA Basketball as this is the sport I know the most about.

However, My starting bankroll is not going to be that much at all, probably around $50-$100. Since I'm a US player I'm thinking of going with Bet Jamaica since they seem to have the most respect from all of the websites I have seen so far.

I think they offer some sort of bonus but it has a 4x rollover requirement or something like that. Is it worth taking the bonus or should I pass on it so I can withdraw my money whenever I'd like?

I've noticed alot of people in these threads on here are always telling people stuff like, Don't bet on sports its a stupid thing to do, you will always loose in the long run, however the people who say these things seem to be the most active on the forums and I read in posts about massive amounts of bets they have made and how they win... A little confusing but whatever.

Just looking for some solid advice before I make my first deposit.

First of all, welcome to the RX. As to your question, Betjamaica is a very solid and respected sportsbook and one of our sponsors, so we can help you if you ever need assistance on any matter. Since you are thinking of depositing between $50-$100, my recommendation to you would be to forego the bonus so you can withdraw whenever you wish. It is not that easy to rollover your money 4 times before you lose it without proper money management, which is a whole other subject to itself. Being new to this business keep it simple and just wager small amounts at a time in a recreational matter. Best of luck to you.

He's dead on about Bet Jamaica & some of the other books here at TheRx, but I just have an itsy bitsy different view on bonuses, even though TED does offer good advice above.

Here's the way I look at bonuses you receive when making a deposit at a book & what will help you decide to on what you should do.

1. Hit & Run, meaning you are out to just win a little money & then pull your money out.
If this is your option, then you may want to decline any bonuses.

2. If you're in this for the long haul & plan on playing on a regular basis, you definitely take the bonus.

Bonus money can also be an asset.
Let's say you Deposit $100.
You decline a 20% bonus.
You make your last $20 wager, lose, & are wiped out.
If you would have accepted the 20% bonus, you still have another $20 to play with, and of course you could run that $20 back up again.

Also, if you decide to withdraw early, at most books you simply forefeit the bonus & the book deducts it from your balance.

So basically, accepting a bonus is no-risk in my opinion.

Yeah, I'll probably accept the bonus, I'm using some money management techniques I saw on this forum like never bet more then 4-5% of your total bankroll etc.

i would focus on winning "units", don't focus on dollars it is too easy to screw up money management when you only put in 50-100 (e.g. after a few beers you bet the bankroll because "i only have $40 left")

Units is equivalent to percentages, like you listed above, 4%-5%, based on 100%.

Example: If you begin with a $1000 Bankroll in your account, 1Unit would equal 1%, or $10.

My advice is NOT to play at betjamaica. Their customer service is garbage. Can't understand them half the time and it seems like there always in a bad mood.. 5dimes is a better option.. never had any problems there.

Aslong as me and my balance are in a good mood, its all good lol. And what do you expect? They're in Jamaica, You can't expect them to talk like people from Cleveland. @)

Surprised you've had bad experiences with BetJam. In my experience, they have been great. You have to get past the accent but the payouts are prompt (overnight fedex) and frankly, that's all I care about.
