Books are too "static" for me, I prefer magazines. I use airline miles to subscribe and I get just about everything under the sun and it makes for good, current reading.

I read a book a few weeks ago about and entitled "History Of Big Texas Oil." The main theme focused on five families in Texas who through shrewd business deals and a shit load of luck, made it rich in the big Texas Oil Boom after the Great Depression. One family whose patriarch was Clint Murchison, was at one time, the owner of the Dallas Cowboys. Another family started out with only $100.00 and turned it into $10.000 in a high stakes Poker Game in New Orleans and used the capital to buy pumps, drills, pipe, etc and struck a gusher a few days later literally coming from $100.00 to a millionare multiple times over within days. The book shows how once empowered, the oil men were very influential in Washinton DC politics back then very similar to the way demand for oil runs to an extent our economy now. A little long winded in spots and an above average reading reqirement might deter some, but the "History Of Big Texas Oil" is very informative reading for those who are interested in such topics.:103631605
