what happened was he was a 4-1 favorite...which means his job is to finish out of the money...which means the track gets to keep all the money...

the longest shot on the board (the least bet on horse) won the race....so the track doesnt have to pay out to many people...and then more $$ for themselves to keep :toast:

what happened to Barbaro ( i believe it was Barbaro) when he ran at Belmont trying to win the final leg of the triple crown and he was like a 1-5 favorite...everyone had him on top of exactas, tris, supers and all sorts of exotics....ohh....foot injury and didnt even finish the race..........track gets to keep the money....

Barbaro broke thru the gate at the Preakness and than got loaded back in to the gate again and broke down during the race but it was at the Preakness not the Belmont

I wish they would also give the number of people who actually hit the exotics. The number who hit the trifects/superfecta can probably be counted on one foot. Maybe one toe.

The track makes the same amount of money regardless of who wins. Only time track makes differnet profit based on an outcome of a race is when there's a minus pool. This was not the case for the derby.
