I need some help from my gambling brothers. My first question is this, did anybody else get screwed over by offshore books like SBG Global on the Kentucky derby payout? I had specifically called them to make sure they were going to pay out 'track odds' on this huge betting race, they told me YES up to 30k per wager, the reality was though they forgot to mention that the 'exotic wager' had a cap of US$500 per $1 basis per wager, so on a race where the pick 3's and pick 4's paid out 3k and 20k they paid out only $500 each. A) can anybody help me on this B) does anybody kow of an offshore book that takes real horse bets and pays real horse track odds? Peter

This is why, ever since Pinnacle got rid of their racebook, I haven't bet horses online. You get big time fucked by offshore books with these crazy caps. Probably capped you at 500/1 on exotics. This is the routine, as they are not tied to the betting pools. Now, the only time I bet on horses is if I go to my local OTB parlor so I don't get fucked. I've cashed monster exactas before ($1,500 and up) and Pinnacle paid out exactly as they would at the track, but I'm guessing Pinnacle couldn't take the beatings anymore.

You are in the States, so that makes it easy for you, you should bet horses at legal U.S based shops, like youbet or twinspires. Sadly, I don't have that option and I'm still looking for a decent offshore racebook (can't play at US based shops as I am Canadian)

First off thanks for the reply, I had forgotten about Pinnacle, what about BODOG? and is there anyway to go after SBG I mean I actually called them and asked so they didn't screw me, I mean I can understand capping at Flagler, etc, but the fricken Derby...Are you kidding me?? any other horse players out there who have a suggestion...other than Youbet...I mean three per cent rebates is disgusting.

  • . There is a maximum net profit on each individual race based on the track category. Daily Doubles, Pick 3's and Pick 4's count towards the last race in its sequence when calculating the race profit. The formula will be Net Profit equals Net Payout For Race minus Total Amount Wagered For Race. This resets for every individual race.
  • 2. There is a $20,000 limit, per horse per bet type for show bets. Any wager placed above this amount will be considered "No Action".
  • 3. There are no house odds. If there are no track payoffs for a certain type of wager, all wagers on that type will be refunded.
  • 4. If a track is on our betting menu, but not listed on the Horse Track Categories, the Maximum Net Profits defaults to $5,000.
  • 5. If the track payout on a race pays to ALL on Super/Trifectas, pays out2 of 3 on a Pick 3, or 3 or 4 on a Pick 4, and BookMaker client's wager has the exact ticket, the customer will be paid out the whole minus the takeout percentage. If pool information is not available, the payout will be 3x's the consolation payout period. If take out information is not available, it will default to 20%. If paid out to the whole pool, consolation payouts on the same rates will not apply. All normal tracks limits are still applicable.
  • 6. Any attempt to play negative pool hedges will result in account suspension.
  • 7. Management reserves the right to restrict the amount of, or any bet, on any track, at any time, if it so desires. After the management verifies the results of the race, if it is found that the wager was past-posted, your wager will then be disqualified from any winnings, and your original bet will be placed back in your account.
  • 8. You can also parlay your race track betting. Parlays are computed with a maximum payoff of 100/1 for win, 40/1 for place, and 20/1 for show, and a maximum net profit determined by the lowest level track used in the parlay. For example making a win parlay using a category "A" track with a category "C" track the maximum net profit would be $10,000 or 100-1, whichever is lower.
  • 9. Bets on All Major Tracks in the U.S. are available, and we are not connected to the pari-mutuel pool, so your bet does not affect the track odds.
  • 10. All Quarter Horse Racing the Maximum Net Profit Per Race is $1,000
  • 11. For non North American simulcasts we calculate payouts based upon US. pari-mutuel pool, not the host tracks. If there are no US. pari-mutuel prices then all wagers will be cancelled.

why not just go to the local track/OTB to place your wagers on the Kentucky Derby?

Nothing you can do about it. But that is an atrocious racebook, even for offshore. Only 250/1 on exactas? You gotta be kidding me.

Many thanks to all of you, I agree, they should have told me about the 500/1 limit (especially) when I asked. I could have gone to satellite to place my bets, but had money in this account for 'sports wagering' and everyone knows what a pain it is to pull your discretionary gambling income out and get it in time for 'other gambling events' Nearly a 20k lesson for me. Now to the bloggers who put up the 5 dimes and bookmaker accounts. First off the 'bookmaker' fine print is ridiculous, have a 140 IQ and can't make heads or tails out of that mess and have read everywhere that they are jerking people out of getting there money timely BUT the 5 dimes is very interesting. What is the extra 10% payout, why the pick 4 limit so much less than the pick 3, way harder to hit 4 than 3??? and are you saying if I dont take the 10% extra at Hollywood or Arlington I can get paid in full on a 30 or 40 k pick 3????

Dude, I really feel for you. That is a crappy situation. Totally understand how putting $$ in different places is hard. And you called, and asked, and still got screwed. That really sucks.

Bodog has been good to me for horses. You get a pretty nice bonus every week for your wagers. Think 5% on exotics, 3% on straight bets. Adds up. Course I've never hit for 20 g's. Thanks for the heads up -- gonna research that.

One question for you though. How the hell did you come up with that horse????? Had to be the ALL button, right?

Where are you in Canada that you can't play all major tracks? I can do it by phone, online, at teletheater, or live.
Let me know if I can help you some way.

BTW, I had the exactor ($2074).

Kudo's to you for hitting that exacta, If you loved Pioneer of the Nile and front and backwheeled? then you could have hit that, My 'two-three rule Jockey gets two wins seems to get his third worked for Julian Leparoux and I simply used Calvin Borel in the pick threes as kind of a 'saver' as he had two wins earlier on the card...the races before and after the derby were fairly formful therefor the pick 3's were hittable ....just not at the screwed up 'restriction' rate on the biggest race of the year!!!!!
