Paulus wasn't just a good QB he was the Gatorade player of the year. Big name schools wanted him to attend as their QB but obviously he turned it down to go to Duke for hoops. Obviously when he goes to Syracuse he will be competing for the QB job.

maybe a verbal commitment to duke to play hoops as a sophmore was a decision he should have waited to make . cant blame him for using his final year of eligiblity to play for his hometown football team.

Being a Syracuse resident my whole life I have followed Paulus career since he was in 8th grade. I played basketball with his oldest brother, and worked with another one. While I rooted for Greg to do well at Duke, I just don't see how this is a good move for a Syracuse football program that admittedly is in rebuild mode. WHy bring in a quarterback with 1 year of eligibility that you have no idea how he will perform? Sure he was an outstanding high school quarterback, but that was 5 years ago. The only reason he received a try out with the Packers is because his father, a successful businessman, is friends with a high up in the Packers oraganization. They gave Greg a try out in a friendly gesture to him. In the work out he was clocked in the 40 yard dash at 5.2, and his throwing arm was graded as extremely weak. You just can't play for 5 years then step on the field and expect to excel at the high D1 level. It just isn't going to work, and i'm surprised Morrone has chosen to go this route. Sadly I am afraid part of the reason is to draw some interest in the program. THe Dome was lucky if it were half filled last season, so bringing in a local legend will bring attention to the program and possibly put some more fans in the seats. This is not what I wanted to see, for Greg, or the Syracuse football program

Interesting take HD. I hope the guy actually does well at Cuse. My friend Joe Bauerserman took three years off to play baseball then went back to Ohio St. He will be Pryors back up this season and is 23 y/o, so coming back to football after taking time off can work.

Seymour - You a Syracuse native? you always seem to know a lot about the area, and the athletics?

I went to Cuse - diehard fan - though the last 5 years of football have made me lose a lot of interest
