My girl and I were traveling, which can lead to odd discussions in the car.. Thought I would get your opinion of this subject:

We were talking about positions of power, and it came to the discussion of what kind of people demand power?

We came to the conclusion that everyone ultimately wants respect, but not every one wants power...

This is not to be meant in a negative way, or reflect badly upon those that do or do not desire power...

Just simply, what kind attributes do people that are crave power tend to have...

I bet almost all of them carry this attribute:

SELFISHNESS

I've had a few friends that have struck it rich with their business ventures. And I can tell you that what's happened with most of them is after they made their first million or so, they met a new and different class of people and moved on from my social circle. And when you run in those higher circles it then becomes a competetive thing of who can be richer and more successful. If you want to see where most of the problems on Wall Street originated from, it's this kind greedy drive for wealth and power that is a contest between these power players. If they didn't have these kinds of social circles, I doubt seriosly if you would see the kind of things that happened with Bernie Madoff and others. Greed rubs off. And I've known a couple friends who went bankrupt after making their first $10 million because they bit off more than they can chew with their business in trying to climb that ladder. $10 million wasn't enough for them. Those guys wouldn't have ever thought that way 20 years ago when they didn't have a pot to piss in.

Why does it come back to Greed? there is a fine line between greed and ambition anyway....

My girl claimed that those that seek a position of power, need to be intimidateing.. I didn't think that was true...

but yet, besides the issue of respect, I couldn't put any more attributes to it.. And like I said earlier, everyone wants respect...
