No shit. Why do they depend on Lidge in these games? Why at all. He is a horrible closer.

MMfan, you are a douche.

Everyone has a bad day now and again but he's a horrible closer? Yeah, I forgot he converted 41 of 41 last year with a 1.95 ERA. Idiot.

Well MMfan is not entirely wrong.

Last year was last year.

This year Lidge has had 20 appearances of a full inning or more. He has allowed at least one baserunner in 18 of those outings. He has allowed at least one run in 10 of those appearances.

That is hardly shutdown stuff.

It's pretty much a miracle he only has three blown saves.

He's not a horrible closer. He had a rough afternoon.

The guy lost his bet and started crying on the forum. That is dumb.

Rough couple of months more like.

An ERA of over 9.16, a WHIP of 2.09, and an OPSA of 1.010 is pretty damn horrible for a closer.

Problem is, people can't handle bad beats. Honestly, in baseball, I don't know how people don't bet as many games as they possibly can. It is the only way you can "outrun" variance, and the only way that "bad beats" can even themselves out over the course of a season.

Thanks for the kind words.

Philly should have won that game. With a closer who has a 9.16 ERA. So, if that's good in your mind, I bet you are making tons of money.

No need for the name calling. If you have all the answers, share them please.

I'll simplify for all you.
Lidge is a very good closer that has a horrible first two months.
If Paps or Rivera or Nathan had the same start, they's be still closing also.

Morons abound... Obviously this guy has issues in the head, it is why he went from a hero to a zero in Houston.

BUT he was a key part in giving the retarded fans of Philly a World Championship, or whatever we are calling the steroid championship...

I lost money as well but don't come on and make ridiculous comments because of a bad beat. Discipline is the key.

You're right. I won't forget feeling the love for Lidge last year when I won on the final World Series game and he threw strick three and dropped to his knees. He was the man then! I just hate winning a game all the way until the bottom of the 9th. Philly was never in real trouble until Lidge took over. It is what it is. I've hit three unders today but that was my bigger bet. Good luck to you.
