I've always felt that managers rarely win games for their team, but they can sure as hell lose a lot of them with the boneheaded decisions they make.
There are very few managers who actually know how to manage a pitching staff. It's amazing how clueless they are when it comes to using their bullpen (I'm looking at you Terry Francona). And when they actually do use their bullpen, they just make the auto pilot moves of leftly vs. lefty, or right vs. righty. There doesn't seem to be much thought put into it.
