Here's a few...

UNDERRATED
Chris Young
Joe Saunders
Danny Haren (maybe not these days though)

OVERRATED
Kevin Millwood
Josh Beckett
Felix Hernandez
Wandy Rodriguez (at least these days he is. His early numbers this year are misleading, IMO)

Early on I was following Greinke ( he's not underrated now)
Verlander might still be underrated ( although not for long)

Call me crazy, but I think Jamie Moyer isn't THAT bad.
I'll second that Chris Young is underrated too
I think Guthrie is better than he's played...

Overrated = CC Sabathia

Without looking at his stats, I would venture to guess this is the first year he's put up decent numbers. I've faded him A LOT over the last few years because he had always been a gascan. Maybe he's turned it around, but I'm skeptical...

OVERRATED

Wakefield... is neither overated or underated. He is a 42 yr Knuckleball, who makes 4 million a year, and year in and year out eats innings and gets 10 plus wins a year.. He does everything the team asks him, start...long relief.. etc.

Overated is a young gun who makes 10+ million a year and continues to underpeform..

WHAT Wakefield Overated.. thats the last name I would pull out of the hat... A guy in his 40's overated.... Ok pal:laugh:

CC Sabathia is NOT overrated! He can pretty much go nine innings every time he takes the mound and it is not very often that he gets hit hard so he keeps you in pretty much every game he pitches in. Name another pitcher that can do that for any team besides Roy Halliday?

Are you looking at 1 game? or the season? Confused here? He is 42 and eats a ton of innings.. What he does for that pitching staff can not be measured.. Big freaking deal.. he is their #4 or #5 starter.

Who cares what the moneyline was? red Sox at home after a loss vs Pelfrey.. your never going to get value? And didn't he go deep into the game and they won the game.

I have a feeling you will not find 1 person on this Forum.. that will call a 42 yr old pitcher who gets the teams 10-12 wins, cost them a minimal 4 million a year ( price for a avg utility man and eats over 180 innings a year, saves the bull pen etc...... Overated? )

I agree with you he could start one day and if need be in a few days he could come in for a spot start or out of the bull pen! He is a very valuable asset to the Red Sox pitching staff.
