one of my biggest gripes with the refs is when a rookie doesnt get a foul called for him because he is a rookie, to me that doesnt make any sense, if its a foul its a foul, regardless of how long a player has been in the league

Voted A. Doesn't help that there are too many dumb rules, like the flagrant 1 and 2 calls.

Voted Inconsistent. Within the playoffs, the amount of contact varies considerably depending on which referees are calling the game. From a betting standpoint that really can impact the total (game, halves and quarters).

The problem that exists at all levels of officiating, from high school to the NBA is the same. By the time an official becomes proficient in judgement, rules, demeanor with players/coaches, politics, etc they are on the decline physically. 40-60 year old men can not keep up with 20-30 year old men. In addition, the NBA & College refs often let their egos get in the way of the actual game.

The toughest job for an official is definitely an NBA ref....

Players are too fast and physical and their egos are out of check...

Disagree, gotta go NFL on that one. Lots of controversy on pass interference calls, late hits, unsportsmanlike conduct, holding, did the ball cross the plane? Was the knee down? Was the arm moving forward? The exact spot of the ball, etc. @)
