Before the season I had circled June as the month the Pirates completely fall apart, and here we are. It's a perfect storm for them to tumble as they are an awful Interleague club (worst ever in MLB at 64-105 .378) with 15 Interleague games in June, plus facing far superior teams like the Mets, Braves, and Cubs from NL. Their "easy" series' will be 3 in Houston and 3 in Colorado and the Bucs are 38-70 in road games since the start of the 2008 season. Of course anytime you bet against a pathetic AAA club like the Pirates, you're usually paying juice. I predict a 10-18 month for them, hopefully worse

Each game risk $200...list starters

6/1/09 - NYM -105 $200/$190

lol i find it funny that your from Pitt.. however, best of luck to you... will you consider playing runlines if/when teams are favoured by say -220 or more?

I'm going to fade you for just one night, feeling here is Snell gets it done against Hernandez.
Here's hoping you go 26 - 0 for the rest of the month though.

shouldn't be too many -200's but, for example, Johan is right now -185. May split the stake on something like that and will have the Pirates TT (probably u3 or u3.5) for separate bet. In 3 starts vs Bucs Johan has allowed 3 ER in 22 innings ;)

I'm actually a Pirate fan too...as much as one can be i guess :ohno:

You know when I was a kid I wasn't a Pirate fan per se, but I loved to watch Stargell, Oliver, Sabguillen, etc. etc. etc.
WTF happened, every year I hope they do something, every year, squadoosh.

The Pirates blew it when they didn't hire Jack Zduriencik, who built the present Brewer team through the draft. I'm almost certain Zduriencik is from Pittsburgh. Seattle grabbed him as its general manager last offseason. He would have been a great hire for the Pirates, but as a Brewer fan, I'm glad they didn't bother.

Why not play the games "to win" $200??? It will make tracking a lot easier by keep everything in whole dollars. Best of luck...I'm counting on the Pirates imploding tonight!!! :)

same pitching matchup as yesterday but books pricing Mets higher due to McLouth trade. How are the Pirates taking this news?

"It's a shock to all of us," Jack Wilson said. "I've been talking to a lot of the guys, and this is not going to be viewed very highly in the clubhouse by any means. We're a team, and we were battling without our catcher, waiting for him to get back. To lose your best all-around player -- and that's what Nate was, in terms of power, speed and defense -- and to do it so early in the season ... that's going to be tough to get over."<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>

Oswalt insane stats against the Bucs with at least 10 straight quality starts (might be more but covers just shows last 10) http://www.covers.com/pageLoader/pageLoader.aspx?page=/data/mlb/matchups/g4_starters_12.html ... he's allowed either 0 or 1 run in 8 of last 9 against Pit

Go buccos! Mccutchen will prove to be better than McClouth for the pirates. Speed, speed, average, power is how the underbudget marlins won 2 rings.

Sorry, I meant to elaborate a little more.. By speed, speed, average, power, power, I was talking about the first 5 slots of their starting lineup. McCutchen, Morgan, Sanchez, Doumit(when he gets healthy), and Ad. LaRoche. Not to mention if An. LaRoche and Moss start hitting to their potential. If they could get some consistency out of the bullpen they could be a decent squad.

Adam Laroche will not be on this team by end of July, nor will Sanchez. If Sanchez keeps up his pace they would be on the hook for something like 9-10M contract next year and there is no way in hell the Bucs will pay a slap hitting 2nd baseman 10M. Same with LaRoche...they're pissed enough that the arbitrator ruled against them for this season. They'll be dropping that contract ASAP.

Andy's brother having a bit of a breakout year but Moss just stinks. You can't have a RF that has 1 HR in 156 AB or 9 career HR in 417 AB. Bucs have been praying for guys to reach their potential every year and when they do (Bay, Ramirez, McClouth) they get shopped for prospects.

But they were the 3rd most profitable team in baseball last year so what do they care?

I certainly agree that the way they do business is not good for winning championships. The people of Pittsburgh deserve a better front office. However the team as it is has potential. Whether they keep it together, recent history says no.
