I will be getting a new tv pretty soon but cant decide on which brand. I was looking at a sony 32m5000 or Lg 32lg30. Both of them are 720p and are over 10000 to 1 contrast. Does anyone have these?

With Barman's Aid LY

I asked the same Q! I finally ended up w/a 32" HD Samsung. What I needed was one that had a computer port, as I use it as my Monitor also. What I gave up @ the time was pic in pic, which I had on my old Sony. Now I wish I'd gone for the 40" which did have that feature. They've dropped in price now, so a 40 is almost what a 32 was LY. Samsung or Sony are both great choices. BOL

Samsumg is rated the best. I would get one with the full 1080p and not the 720p.

I agree with Fair on this. Why buy the old technology when there are great deals with 1080. I have a sony and never have had a problem with it.

I was looking for a new tv last night. I went to a store and Samsung has a new 55' LED TV .... It was absolutely beautiful. The price is Just under 5k. Im not sure if you have ever seen the new LEDs but they are paper thin. It was by far the best picture on a tv that I have ever seen.

That's why the 720's are cheap - 1080's have come down in price.

LG's are very good too. If you are going to mount the tv on the wall, have the place you buy it from do it. Saves lots of headaches, plus if they break something, they are liable.

HAHAHA what a dickhead. Yes the TV was bought long before I lost my job.

LOL Unlike you I leave the house a few times a year and met a wonderful woman that is educated and employed.

I also was very responsible and lived below my means. When I lost my job I had well over 20 g's in the bank and about 60g's in investments.

Unlike you I am not a career loser student that will never produce anyhting worth of value to society.

Collecting unemployment is not welfare. Don't compare me to the welfare queens that have never paid taxes in thier life. I have been working since I was 14. Since that time I would say I have went maybe 6 months without getting a check from an employer.

LOL YOU ARE A LOSER

carry on now

please find a post where I said those words and I will send you $500.00

I wouldn't mind spending 5K because I watch alot of tv everyday. Also if I buy that tv lets say I keep it for 3 years. That would be equivalent to me paying just over $1600 a year for the tv. Not bad in my opinion.

Now that is true.

Also if that is a huge part of entertainment for the family than it can be worth it. Like We have our nice TV and had DTV for the NFL ticket. That was what we do to have fun. We don't do movies or go out to the bars. So we could justify the cost.

I assume you're talking about Samsung's new "Luxia" line models which currently include the B6000, B7000, and B8000? Although Samsung is marketing these models as "LED", they are NOT true LED's. What they do have are individual edge-lit LED's located around the perimeter of the panel (which then reflect off a mirror behind the panel to illuminate the screen), but there isn't any true backlight on these sets, which is why they can be so thin.

However, later this fall, Samsung will be releasing the B9000 which will be a real LED set with actual individual LED's dispersed directly behind the panel that will light the display. The B9000 will be the official replacement for their only current, true LED set.. the A950.

The B6000, B7000, and B8000 are Samsung's 1st generation edge-lit LED displays and the line is clearly a work in progress. They all suffer from many issues such as uneven panel, oversaturated colors, annoying corner flashlights, and terrible off-angle viewing. This is a result of the edge-lit technology, in which you sacrifice several key elements of picture quality for style. I highly recommend waiting until at least the 3rd generation if you're looking to invest in edge-lit technology. Sony was the first to bring it to market last year and theirs suffer from the same issues.

The B9000, however, will most likely be one of the best two sets on the market (going head-to-head with Sony's true LED XBR11), but you'll have to wait until the fall for both of those models.

The current best LED LCD sets on the market are Sony's XBR8 and Samsung's A950. Of course the Pioneer Elite Kuro is the way to go for plasma lovers.

Thanks for the heads up. I highly appreciate it. I will definitely do research on the models coming out in the fall.
