L.A. Angels +1.00 over TORONTO
John Lackey will make just his fifth start of the year and he comes in with some rather unimpressive numbers in his first four starts. The thing is, Lackey is coming all the way back from elbow surgery and his numbers aren’t really as bad as they look on paper. His first start you can throw out, as he was tossed after two pitches. Two starts ago he went seven full against the Dodgers and allowed just seven hits and three runs. In his last start he pitched into the eighth inning against the Red Sox and although he allowed 10 hits and five runs he battled hard and looked pretty solid. Said Lackey afterwards, “My stuff tonight felt as good as it's been in a couple of years, honestly." I had a really good two-seamer. I'm still not really sure how I gave up three in that one inning, but that's baseball. You've just got to keep making pitches and try to give your team a chance to win." Lackey is coming around and if you’ve watched him pitch you can see he’s throwing well and he has a great chance to pick up another win here. The team gets fired up when he pitches and they’ll face Brian Tallet, a guy that has thrown 118, 101 and 102 pitches over his last three starts. For a career reliever that’s a lot of pitches and the toll it takes could show up here. His ground ball percentage is very low at 34% and his stuff is average at best. A few Angel batters are scorching lefties right now, they’ve scored 21 runs over their last three games and chances are good they’ll put up a bunch more today. Note the 12:30 PM start. Play: L.A. Angels +1.00 (Risking 2 units). <o:p></o:p>

Texas +1.48 over NY YANKEES (1st 5 innings)
Wow, talk about an overlay and one need not look further then this one. Chien Ming Wang hasn’t started in seven weeks and that’s because he couldn’t get anyone out in his first three starts. In fact, he knocked around for 23 runs in just six innings in losing those first three starts, yielding at least seven runs in each outing. After being tagged for eight runs in 1.1 innings in a 22-4 loss to Cleveland he was put on the DL. He’s pitched three times in relief since coming off the DL but starting is a whole different animal. Psychologically, Wang has to be feeling a little anxious about starting and it’s not like he’s pitching against a weak offense at a pitchers park. No, he’s pitching against an explosive offense at that new launching pad in New York against one of the league’s hottest teams. The Rangers have won eight of its last 12 games and Brandon McCarthy is bringing it big time. McCarthy has a 1.64 ERA over his last 22 innings and he’s looked progressively better in each of his last four starts. The Rangers may not win here but there is no doubt whatsoever they offer up some tremendous value in this spot against the always-overpriced Yanks. Note the 12:30 PM start. Play: Texas +1.48 (Risking 2 units).
