Been Out Of The Game For Awhile, Passion Gone, Can I Get It Back ?

As Some of you know, Gambling was a very big part of my life, pretty much dominated for a few years. Did very well with all of the angles that I attacked.

Basically took long leave of absence which pretty much started during the BOS and Neteller fiasco's, which took alot out of me. The trust with the Offshore industry as a whole had been shaken. I always had depended on the simplicity of transfering money into and out of shops very quickly to impliment my stradegies...That combined with the burnout that had been creeping in ,told me it was time for a break.

Since then I have been involved in other ventures, so not exactly twiddling my thumbs here. Was even able to hold on to a girl friend for a year, mostly because I finally had the time to pay attention to her and smell the roses so to speak.

Never did I think I would actually lose the passion for gambling , and still can't seem to get back the motivation I really need to get back in. Even Kermit hasn't been able to help get it back and from time to time he tells me about play he is interested in. Been out of it now for over 2 years , it actually feels foreign to me. Probably one of the reasons I am coming to the Bash, is maybe to jump start myself again before football season approaches.

Question is, Can I regain that passion ? Any thoughts from anyone thats been out of the game for awhile thats been in this position would be appreciated

Sounds like you found a better way to your life. Not sure why you would want to be a degenerate again and mess up what you have now. Its's like when I stopped gambling when I was about 29. Everytime I wanted to gamble or go to the track I would put transfer 50 into my saving acount. What a shock when after about 1 1/2 I had so much more money than I would have.

Everytime you want to gamble take that money and do something else with it. That helped me alot.

I still gamble but nowhere close like I used to.

I ALSO GOT MARRIED. Life is grand

Red, I know what you have been going through. I kinda went into a funk for the last year and a half. You are still young enough to get the mo jo back. Maybe we both can get it back at the Bash. Looking forward to seeing you. :toast: LT

Red Eye: I wondered how your business in Mexico worked out.

Man; I used to rush home from work; get on internet; check prices; check what key cappers thought; bet at least 3 to 6 games; then go to spending time with family; etc. Check scores later; but after pinny dissallowed U.S. betting; and trouble moving funds; I have just not gotten into wagering; then the stock market /housing crash blasted about 40% of net worth; although I now am back up about 20%; it did take away from gambling spirit; but I am going to wager heavy this fall; just to get mojo back..>>

Hey, if you cannot wager with your money; what good is it???

As someone who has gotten away from it the past 2 months and had spent too many years consumed by it, stay away. My life is so much better now.

no. gambling is a waste of time and is a breeding ground for degeneracy like other posters have said.

if your posting here, just post for the entertainment.

majority of these serious posters who play daily with there threads and colored records, etc, are degenerates.

Yeah Gambling can ruin your life.... trust me.. i am doing something I have never did...TAKE A BREAK... bases is terrible.. I figure when i come back things will be different. I HAVE BECOME A DEGENERATE... this seems dumb but I need to reprogram myself... I found a guy on the net who has been over 68% in football the last 3 years, I am going to follow him and look for some other things... I am still young and I figure if I continue down this path it is not going to be pretty. so if you start gambling again you will get the passion back if you had it before,.... good luck,.,,

You can & will definitely find the passion again, but things will likely be better because you will understand it doesn't have to occupy all of your time now as it did in the past.

And there's no reason to fear the offshore industry as long as you stick with well respected books such as many advertised at the top of TheRx......

much harder to move money these days but it can be done if you have the desire. look forward to see you at the bash this year

Thanks for asking, I got back into States in Mid April. We are up and running with 2 offices going , with 1 more going back up in Oct. when cruise ships are back ona regular basis again. We did Ok with a very good concept that most tourists seemed to pick up on. Getting off the Boat and seeing a $1 a minute for a phone call instead of $7.95 was a bargain for most. $5 for $15 minutes of Internet time went over good too. Unfortunatly, it hasn't let me to retirement yet, mostly due to the economy. From the info I received from other merchants down the boardwalk, most tourists just weren't spending the money like they have in the past. Since we have a monopoly right now, kinda keeping my fingers crossed that it does bounce back at some point, to capitalize even more. Still making some money with locals. We can beat TelMex and TelCel rates so we do have a pretty full Casetta at times in Chetumal. Probably be heading back down In Oct.

Thanks for the responses guys on the thread. I definately would not do what I use to do, being home every single day behind Computer grinding away, anylyzing every single halftime play, so maybe it wouldn't be such a issue as in the past about quick transfers. I'm not sure if I would call myself a degenerate or not, This was actually making me a living for quite some time and paying the bills. But man, the passion is definately gone.

what about poker? Do you think that is consistently beatable?

Nothing kills the passion for gambling like a prolonged losing streak. I have gambled for a living my entire adult life, but it has been years since anything has clouded my judgement. Losing sometimes doesn't effect people until their bankroll is severely depleted and reality sets in. The real world. You can either get back on the horse, or maybe just gamble for recreation, if there is such a thing. The one thing I will never understand that I read on forums all the time, is the hogwash about transferring money. This would never bother a true professional. Somebody like VIEJO would understand what I'm talking about. There are some tainted views within this thread, but they are usually from the people that have been beaten down the most. I sincerely wish everyone good luck no matter what path you choose.

I can't speak for anyone else that you lumped together, but being able to transfer money is and was important, at least it was for me. I was making good money , had alot of action, but sometimes would run out of funds at important shops I was using such as Pinny, BetMill. etc and needed to get funds back in to them asap. Neteller provided that for me. I wasn't beaten down by losing either I was doing pretty good all the way up until I toook my break. Not going to go into all of the angles I was into, but considered myself a Professional , and being able to transfer money was not "hogwash." I would bet that some others, that feel like their professionals, feel the same way !

Clearly' the ability to allocate capital efficiently is important in most; if not all business ventures. About half of any professionals' edge in sports betting is line shopping. Certainly; it is to the players advantage to move money from shop to shop. If your monet is stuck in one shop' you are at a huge dissadvantage.

Hasn't anybody ever heard of CREDIT? That has been the backbone of sports wagering since the beginning of time. Billy Walters has never been slowed down because he couldn't transfer money.
