Starting about 6 years ago, once a year...I started getting this sensataion. It typically arrives around 9pm and keeps me wide awake all night. Burning in the shoulder and running down thru bicep and even radiating down as far as my wrist, concentrated in the shoulder though. It seems to be gaining momentum. I got it twice last year and twice already in 2009. Today for the first time ever, it kept me awake all night, disappeared for a little while and now its back in the middle of the day when I tried to take a power nap.

My two thoughts have always been : oh shit, heart attack symptom. or if not.. then some sort of F'd up acid reflux that is centered in my shoulder of all places.. but is it possible to have had 10 mini heart attacks over the past 6 years?... or is it possible to have acid reflux without any stomach ailment? I don't know? Figured I'd ask my peers here in this group since alot of you have experienced my age already. I am 41 now. 6' 7", 280 lbs. gotta drop some lbs for sure.

I will hit up the urgent care tomorrow AM if this shit hasn't left. I did some online research and there was suggestion of this being a symtom of possibly gall bladder prob or even liver prob. Yikes. anyone ever get this shit before?

Do you have pain when you move your shoulder? Burning may be nerve pain. I had something like that 6 yrs ago. Went to the orthopedist and he gave me a couple steroid shots and got better. An MRI shoulder impingment syndrome, where the nerve gets inflammed and hurts very much. Could barley wipe my butt when I went to the bathroom. Good luck

1. Get good med workup.
2. Possible C6,C7 disc impingement. Do you have intract bowel/bladder function? EMG, nerve conduction study may tease this out.

No reason for you to be in pain, even if it is only a couple times a year. Seeing a doctor is so much easier than living with this.

Thanks guys. I went out to dinner and saw "hangover". Cleared the mind a little and am not feeling the burning like last night and this afternoon. Had some time to think too and had a thought... I used to be a bit of a gunslinger with a baseball and a football. As a tall guy, I took pride in being able to throw hard, and I'd sometimes overdo it cause my arm didn't seem to mind. Somewhere around the age of 26 or 27 I lost a lot of distance on throwing a football. I used to throw 60yds in those pickup games of yesterday. At some point I just suddenly lost accuracy and distance. No pain though. I have no pain with any kind of movement, but I can feel a little bit of grinding up in the shoulder. ... perhaps the pain now evolving at age 41. i'll see a doc next week. have always had lower back problems too. we'll figure it out. thanks again for the insight, speculations, and suggestions.

8ate... what is the question about intract function? what are you asking. if detail is too much for forums, feel free to PM me. without going into details myself, those functions aren't what they used to be.

How is all your blood work? Cholestrol levels? Sometimes with blocked arteries or CHF you can get radiating pain in the right shoulder. Im just mentioning this since you seem to be tall and big. ALso, at your age you might look into getting an angiogram as it will look at the vessels and make sure nothing is blocked. Good luck and I hope it is nothing serious.
