Yankee Opponents Need To Quit Bitchin' and Start Hitting To RF

I was dismayed to hear our usually even-handed television guys for the TB Rays (Dewayne Stats and Kevin Kennedy) bitch and moan about how the new Yankee Stadium is such a bandbox, especially on fly balls hit to RF.

"They need to do something...not sure what...but something!" was the lament offered several times as the Yankees win 5-3 behind four HRs - two of which were deemed "routine fly balls" by Kennedy and Statts.

Hey man...last I checked, both teams get 27 outs in the same ballpark. If the Rays (who have won three of five this year in the Bronx) or any other Yankee opponent think "pop flies" to right field have excessive HR potential, might be a smart idea to swat a few that direction yourself.

They should have just renovated the old Yank stadium the way Fenway did. This sci fi whatever looking thing with the rediculous ticket pricing sucks.

The only thing it really affects is that the Yanks players will have great stats but game by game it doesn't matter. Each team gets 27 outs. I guess in the future it could help out the Yanks as they can load up on power hitting lefties but even then they still have to play 81 games in other ball parks.

Really wasn't the opponents bitching so much as the opponents press

In theory, the more idiosyncratic and quirky the park, the greater the advantage. A good lefthanded hitter will not be at a disadvantage for the vast majority of road games -- and be at a huge advantage for every home game. Of course opponents could then stack their pitching staff so they are throwing all lefties against them. Then the Yankees could pick up a few cheap right-handed hitters with a huge platoon differential

That's all in theory. With such a finite amount of talent and such a vast discrepancy in resources, any team should simply put together the most talented lineup and rotation with very little emphasis on specific skills. It does make things more fun when we pretend to be GMs

Good point, as current pace has Derek Jeter reaching 20+ HRs and John Damon pushing 30+

They say that once the hallowed old Stadium is torn down completely, the "jet stream" off the Harlem River will make balls to RF fly more than they already are.

As for ticket prices, don't get me started. I've already eaten about a $1,000 in tickets this season for games I couldn't go to.
