Philadelphia +1.60 over NY METS
Regardless of the outcome this one is pretty much a must play simply because of the tag. The Mets still have a bunch of key players out and have lost four of its past six to Pittsburgh and Washington. The Phillies just completed a four-game split in Los Angeles but had a late lead in all four games and could’ve and probably should’ve swept that series. Furthermore, the Phillies are a major-league best 21-8 on the road and they’re also 15-5 against left-handed starters. J.A. Happ is 2-0 with a 2.45 ERA in three starts since joining the rotation. He threw seven shutout innings in a 5-1 win over San Diego on Wednesday and is holding opponents to a .181 batting average this year. Yeah, Johan Santana has been tough on the Phillies, no doubt, but the current situation calls for a play on the Phillies and there is just no way I’m passing up a price like this one on the hottest team in the majors against a banged up and very vulnerable Mets squad. Play: Philadelphia +1.60 (Risking 2 units).

Colorado +1.28 over MILWAUKEE
The Rockies are coming off its best series of the year, a four-game sweep over the Cardinals in which they scored five runs or more in all four games and ended up scoring a total of 33 runs. Over its last five games the Rockies have punched across 43 runs. After facing a bunch of scrap-heap pitchers in St. Louis and hammering them, they’ll face another one here in Braden Looper. In 62 innings this year, Looper has struck out just 35 hitters. He had a 9-1 lead in his last start and couldn’t make it out of the fifth inning. He’s surrendered at least one bonb in each of his last six starts and the opposition has gone yard him 12 times. In other words, he’s not fooling anyone and the Rockies are seeing beach balls right now. By contrast, Jason Hammel has been terrific in five of his last seven starts and has been rock-solid on the road all year long. In fact, in 29 road innings this season, Hammel’s ERA is 1.87 and he has yet to allow a single jack on the road. The Rockies are 3-0 in Hammels’ last three starts and thus, the hot pitcher on a hot team plus a tag gets the call. Play: Colorado +1.28 (Risking 2 units).
