The Patriots are hoping Tom Brady comes to the rescue this season. But it was the New England quarterback who needed to be saved over the weekend.
Brady had to be "fished out of the Charles River" after flipping a rented kayak, the Boston Herald reported on its Web site Tuesday.
According to the Herald, Brady and supermodel wife Gisele Bundchen rented a pair of kayaks from a Beacon Hill sailing club Sunday before Tom tipped over and "couldn't get back in the boat!"
"He had to be rescued," the Herald reported. "The launch guy went out and got him and got him back in the kayak. He's been bragging about it ever since. He's telling everyone he rescued Tom Brady."
A Patriots spokesman told the Herald he hadn't heard about "Tom's kayak sack."
"He looked fine at the golf tournament," Stacey James said, referring to a charity tournament Brady and his teammates played in a day after the kayak mishap.
Despite the dunk in the drink, Tom and Gisele apparently enjoyed their outing. "They got wet," the Herald reported. "But they seemed to have a great time."
