Former NBA referee Tim Donaghy will complete his prison sentence in a Florida halfway house after a fellow inmate attacked him last year with a heavy object, according to the Tampa Tribune.

In November 2007, Donaghy was sentenced to 15 months in federal prison after pleading guilty to charges of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and transferring betting information through interstate commerce. He's scheduled to be released from prison June 17.

The inmate who assaulted Donaghy claims to have ties to the New York mob.

According to a press release, "During the assault, another inmate claiming ties to the New York mob beat Donaghy with a heavy object. Donaghy suffered severe knee and leg injuries that will require surgery."
Donaghy also is working on a memoir, according to several reports.

Wait till he hits the streets. A heavy object won't seem so bad.

If you have ties to the mob I'm thinking you wouldn't "claim to have ties" to the mob

Kinda like the guys who keep telling you how honest they are.
