Two division leaders begin a three-game series in Arlington on Friday as the Texas Rangers host the Los Angeles Dodgers. The series should be a good test for the Rangers as they host the National League’s best team. The Dodgers will be sending Hiroki Kuroda to the mound on Friday while the Rangers counter with Vincete Padilla.

Kuroda is 1-1 on the season for the Dodgers with a 1.62 ERA while Padilla is 4-3 with a 5.22 ERA for Texas. Last weekend Kuroda made just his second start since coming off the DL and was excellent against the Phillies, pitching six scoreless innings. He has never faced the Rangers in his career.
Padilla was placed on waivers last week by the Rangers but was not claimed and is still in the starting rotation. He only gave up two earned runs against the Red Sox in seven innings in his last start. He is 3-2 in his career against the Dodgers with a 3.75 ERA.
Texas has an offense that is in the Top 10 in the league but recently they have struggled. "We have not been going as well as we can be," Texas’ Michael Young said. Before Thursday’s game, the Rangers were hitting just .249 with a .422 slugging percentage and averaging 4.3 runs per game in their last 23 games compared to the first 35 games of the season when they batted .279 with a .500 slugging percentage and averaged 5.7 runs per game.
Not having Josh Hamilton in the lineup has definitely not helped and he will be out at least for the next few weeks.
