Halladay getting injured isn't why the Jays will lose. Their hitters clearly took the night off. Nolasco is one of the worst pitchers in the majors, yet he's absolutely embarrassing the Jays hitters tonight.

Nolasco has a 8.3 ERA I think. He will not last the evening.

I'm sure people will disagree with me, but I think there are times when it's obvious that teams just take the night off. It was apparent to me, pretty early in this game, that the Jays didn't show up. It didn't matter who the Marlins threw out there tonight, the Jays weren't going to do anything offensively. If they had come to play with a focus, they would have shelled Nolasco. There's really no excuse not to.

But the MLB season is a grind, and there are times when teams just play with no emotion, no intensity, no concentration. I don't know if it's due to physical and/or mental fatigue, or something else, but it happens quite a bit. That's why I think MLB is the hardest sport to cap. You literally never know when a team is going to give 100%, or when they're going to mail it in.

Having said all that, this was the first game of the homestand coming off of a road trip for the Jays. Teams almost always struggle in that scenario. I don't know if jet lag is the culprit, but it's been a good fade situation over the years.

You pretty much summed up Vernon Wells since he got his fat contract. He is an embarrasment with a ton of money. Glad to see him taking it easy during his retirement.
