FULLERTON, Calif. — An unemployed mortgage worker from Southern California had the luck of his life this week: he hit the jackpot twice in two days.
Sean Sanders went to a liquor store in nearby Placentia on Wednesday to pick up a claim form for his $1,400 win from Tuesday night's California Lottery draw.
While there, he checked his Mega Millions ticket — and found he had won an additional $141,519.

The 35-year-old Fullerton resident said that he is currently unemployed and has been working only sporadically since 2007.
Sanders says he will use the money to pay off bills and invest the rest.

Well his taxes wont be 50% ON those wins. He was unemployed and if he saved losing tickets, then he can deduct some of his losses

You watch, his win is a win for the state. Think of the money going straight to the teachers union in the people's republic of California and their damn budget shortfall.

1st hit was chump change, not like he hit powerball or something, 2nd hit ain't that much either.

Pretty much a non-story, IMO.

Odds on the first hit are 1 in 197k and on the second 1 in 3.9M. Odds of hitting both are 1 in 7.7 billion or about 50 times worse than hitting the Mega Millions jackpot; this assumes, of course, that he had one ticket only for each drawing. What gets me is how you can fail to be aware of exactly how much your tickets have won before you even leave the house.

best i did was about 10 years ago on the state lottery , on Wed. I had the 1st 4 numbers and on Sat. i had the 1st 4 again. You wanna talk about getting excited and then let down in about a second. You see those first 4 in a row and then BAM nothing on the last 3 , and to have had it happen back-to-back draws was crazy, and to top it off 4 numbers was only like 50 bucks.
I never had 4 numbers since, on any game that has 6 numbers.
