Delaware Park Race #8....

41,000 Allowance race (which is pretty good for that track) has 13 horses entered, 12 betting options, and they are going to post with 2 horses running....LOL

Its off the turf, but damn, for a decent purse, you would think that more horses would have tried...gotta figure, just starting the race would get you 3rd purse money......and i know some horses just dont respond as well on a different surface, but you wouldnt have to beat much to win it...

and the weather is not so bad that it's a danger to be running...

this is just a fluke, but weird, how many pulled out

It looks like about 8 of them aren't stabled at DEL.
I don't know when it rained or when the race was pulled off the grass ,but if the trainers expected the race to come off the grass they wouldn't ship over.

good point objection, i wasnt thinking about that...but still, its odd.....not sure i've ever seen 11 of 13 pulled from race

Back in the days when Balmoral ran thoroughbreds,the "shuttle" leaving from Arlington to Balmoral would leave Arlington about 8 hours before Balmoral's first race.

For the DEL race it looks like the shippers were coming from NY and MD. I'm guessing they have to make some pretty early go/no go decisions about scratching and getting on the shuttle to DEL.
