will skip his Junior and Senior seasons (of High School) and enroll and play JUCO ball and hopes to get drafted next year. Good for him!

me and my buddies werre talking last night about this even before this all came out about him skipping last 2 years.

He should most definately do what he is doing. To put millions of guarunteed money on hold just to make the guy waste his time in HS ball for 2 more years is just insane.

You can work at mcdonalds at 15....he should be able to work for the MLB at 16 or 17. It seems to me that they are almost refusing his right to work.

I think they should let him enter draft now

I have no problem with him entering the draft and collecting on his talent.

On a side note, I don't know how good this kid will be. Baseball is more difficult to gauge. Yes, there are the Griffey's and Arod's, but there are also the Van Poppel's and others as well.

No doubt he is doing the right thing. If he already knows he is going to play ball for a living, let him have it. There is a lot of overlap between last 2 years of HS and first year of college as far as academics go just the same.

if he spends his money right, then he made the right choice, if blows it all ( no matter how much it is) and is broke soon after he retires then he made a bad choice. but for the opportunity to make millions and #1 pick. he would be a fool not to take it. just hope he is mature enough for the pressure

Mr_Mark, I want to live in one of those huts standing on the water pictured in your avatar. Where is that location may I ask?

I'm sorry boys but I don't feel comfortable with this at all. If he's good now then he'll be good two years from now. Enjoy your days in HS with your friends and play some ball while you're still young. There's no hurry for a 16-year-old kid.

How soon until we hear of the next kid quitting high school to do this? You know, the one who wasn't on the cover of SI?

the last few weeks he has been playing on a team here in Oklahoma. His first game off the plane, literally straight from airport to the field, he went 6 for 6 with 2 homeruns, moonshots by the way...against good competition...I dont know about skipping high school, missing out on a lot of social development, but I think the skills are there.

I am glad he is doing it, only because I live here in DC. Not sure if the talent is really there, or if it is there, how it will translate over to the MLB, 5 years from now.

Good for him...

I hope he makes it, but there will be a few pitfalls on the way...

The talent is there, just hope he has the right mental outlook..

I can't see much of a difference between JC ball in Nevada and high school ball. Clearly for publicity.
