"It's hard to describe how well he pitched," manager Jim Leyland said, "Just absolutely tremendous." Verlander is 8-0 with a 2.30 ERA in 10 career Interleague starts. Detroit has won five of the last six games against St. Louis but those were all in Detroit.
Detroit is not hitting the ball either as they are batting .220 in their last five games. They could have trouble against Adam Wainwright who is 6-4 with a 3.49 ERA. It will be Wainwright’s first career start against the Tigers although he did pitch against them in relief in 2006.
