Updated, it says 2" of rain Today and Tonight.....

MODERATE TO HEAVY RAINFALL MAY LEAD TO FLOODING TODAY...
.A SLOW MOVING FRONT WILL APPROACH THE AREA FROM THE WEST TODAY.

RAINFALL WILL CONTINUE THROUGHOUT THE DAY. THE RAIN WILL BE HEAVY AT TIMES... ESPECIALLY THIS AFTERNOON... WITH A FEW THUNDERSTORMS POSSIBLE. THE HEAVIEST PRECIPITATION IS EXPECTED TO MOVE EAST OF THE WATCH AREA THIS EVENING.

FLASH FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM 8 AM EDT THIS MORNING THROUGH THIS EVENING...
THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN UPTON HAS ISSUED A * FLASH FLOOD WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF NORTHEAST NEW JERSEY AND SOUTHEAST NEW YORK... INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING AREAS... IN NORTHEAST NEW JERSEY... BERGEN... EASTERN PASSAIC... ESSEX...
HUDSON... UNION AND WESTERN PASSAIC. IN SOUTHEAST NEW YORK...
BRONX... KINGS (BROOKLYN)... NEW YORK (MANHATTAN)... NORTHERN WESTCHESTER... QUEENS... RICHMOND (STATEN ISLAND)... ROCKLAND AND SOUTHERN WESTCHESTER.

* FROM 8 AM EDT THIS MORNING THROUGH THIS EVENING * RECENT HEAVY RAINFALL HAS LEFT SOIL CONDITIONS AROUND THE NEW YORK CITY METROPOLITAN AREA AND NORTHERN NEW JERSEY SATURATED. 1 TO 2 INCHES OF RAINFALL IS EXPECTED TODAY AND EARLY THIS EVENING ACROSS THE WATCH AREA. LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS ARE POSSIBLE...
ESPECIALLY IN AREAS AFFECTED BY THUNDERSTORMS. THE COMBINATION OF THESE FACTORS WILL LEAD TO THE POTENTIAL FOR FLASH FLOODING TODAY.

* THE AREA WITH THE GREATEST RISK OF FLOODING TODAY IS NORTHERN NEW JERSEY WHERE RECENT RAINFALL HAS BEEN THE HEAVIEST. URBAN FLOODING WILL ALSO BE POSSIBLE THROUGHOUT THE METROPOLITAN AREA DURING PERIODS OF HEAVY RAIN THIS AFTERNOON.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
A FLASH FLOOD WATCH MEANS THAT CONDITIONS MAY DEVELOP THAT LEAD TO FLASH FLOODING. FLASH FLOODING IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.

YOU SHOULD MONITOR LATER FORECASTS AND BE PREPARED TO TAKE ACTION SHOULD FLASH FLOOD WARNINGS BE ISSUED.

I was wondering..

They move the tees up in weather like this. Does anyone know of any other prefessional sport where the field is adjusted for weather conditions?

Do you know of any other sport where the field doesn't have regulation dimensions for every game that is played on it?

It is very common for golf tees to be moved around. It happens at virtually every tournament. Sometimes they will even move up a few tee boxes and create a driveable par 4 that's a great risk/reward scenario.

Moving tee boxes

I understand the game and used to play. I know they move the tee boxes around all the time, but that's not usually due to special circumstancres such as rain, they just do it. The question was, and I'm not being sarcastic, is there another sport that the field changes because of the weather? I can't think of one.

And after 5.5 hours of rain delay, the first pitch of WAS/NYY just finally took place. Amazing wait.
