Lebron James is thrilled at this news. He now has a teammate that's a worse free throw shooter than he is.

wow. Wallace & Sasha & 500K & the 46th pick in this draft for Shaq? Sounds like a good move to me. Lebron & Shaq vs Kobe & co. next year will be the ultimate blockbuster event of this decade

I wouldn't give the East Conference to the Cavs just yet. Shaq is a space eater down low and is old and will likely at times get physically in the way of Lebron driving to the rack. Don't forget the Celtics were without Garnett when it mattered. Just remember the Cavs got beat by Orlando 4-1. Phoenix thought Shaq was the answer. He is not IMHO.

although i agree w/ u that that the cavs shouldn't be crowned as east conf. champs w/ this trade, shaq going to phoenix and shaq going to clev are different. I think this is a damn good move by cavs whereas phoenix trading for him was just dumb on all levels. Phx switched up what was working for them and brought in a vet who contradicts everything they were doing b4 and tried to do.

yes, shaq's a broken down piece of meat (to quote the wrestler @):)), but he most definitely has 1 or 2 solid seasons left in him if given a team where he'd be the missing piece of the puzzle. Obviously that's what the cavs are shooting for w/ this trade, and i'm sure shaq knows that this is it, that this is his last shot at going out on top.

Think this makes the Cavs brass look pretty dumb. They could've had a similar deal at the trade deadline and had Shaq for a potential run this past year. They felt their team was good enough otherwise..........

I am sitting here laughing at these ESPN so-called reporters talking about how much better this makes the Cavs. Are U kidding me?

was just listening to Reggie Miller on Dan Patrick and he said weeks ago that if they made this trade, it wouldn't make them that much better. The problem was down in the post. It was on the wings. Hedo and Rashard killed them in the playoffs. There's no upgrade there.

So I do agree this doesn't automatically make the Cavs the team to beat in the East.

Shaq staying healthy is a huge question mark - he played a ton of games last year, but it was the most he'd played since 2000... I'm not saying he's going to get hurt, but his age/size/conditioning do need to be kept in mind.

Until James become the player with the ball in his hand to win big games with it on the line the cav will never win the big game imo.Maybe down the road James will become that player as he has many yrs to prove himself but for now he does not have that my ball in the last few mins my game thinking....ck
