L.A. Angels +1.02 over TEXAS PINNACLE
The Angels are just too hot and they’re playing too good right now to ignore in this spot. When you wager on the Angels you’re almost always going with the best of it because this team is heads above everybody else when it comes to playing good fundamental baseball. When the Angels lead an inning off with a double the next guy will either bunt him over successfully or move him over with a sac fly or grounder to the right side, followed by an RBI by the next batter. With a runner on third and less than two outs you can count on that run scoring way more often than not. When they have a one-run lead late they’ll seldom give it up. They’ll small ball you to death or they’ll blow you away. Scott Feldman has good numbers but the truth of the matter is he’s a very average pitcher that’s on a decent run. He’s very hittable indeed and it’s a rare day when he goes more than six innings. He’s a career spot starter with a career ERA of 4.74 and we just saw the Giants knock him around pretty good. Against the Angels in his career, Feldman is 1-2 with an ERA of 6.18. In addition, the Rangers are not scoring runs and in fact, have been held to two runs or fewer in six of its last nine games. Meanwhile, the Angels have won seven in a row and 13 of 16. Joe Saunders is 8-4 with a 3.66 ERA and he and the Angels offer up a ton more value than the Rangers do as the chalk. This one is a must-play. Play: L.A. Angels +1.02 (Risking 2 units). <o:p></o:p>

Tampa Bay -½ +1.04 over TORONTO (1st 5 innings) http://www.pinnaclesports.com/?refer=xspwagers<o:p></o:p>
As far as talent goes, the Rays take a back seat to nobody in this league and right now they’re feeling it. The Rays offense is deadly, they’re quicker than anyone and it’s not close, they have raw power, they hit for average and there’s not a single batter in the line-up that can be considered an easy out. They can beat you in more ways than anyone and they’re first or second in every single offensive category. The Rays came in here last night and shut down the Blue Jays en route to a rather easy 4-1 victory. Oh, they beat Roy Halliday in the process and now they’ll take a huge step down in class when they face Scott Richmond. Anyway, I’m not going to go into the pitching match-up too much. This one is all about playing a very hot and very talented, deep team against a Blue Jays team that’s dropped four straight and that’s not scoring runs. Matt Garza doesn’t get the same accolades as others but his numbers are as impressive as anyone’s. The league is hitting a puny .210 off him and that’s after a tough schedule that includes the Yanks, Rockies in Colorado and the Phillies at Philadelphia in three of his last four starts. The Rays will score runs and they’ll score some in the first half of the game while the Blue Jays will very likely be seeing BB’s again. Play: Tampa Bay +1.02 in the first five innings (Risking 2 units).

Agree on the Angels. Texas in a bad funk at the plate right now and Angels very hot looking for revenge on the 3 game sweep on their last trip to Texas. GL

Like the Rays myself tonight but Garza pitched in Tampa against the Phillies and the Jays have only lost 3 straight. All in all I agree that Garza is one of the most underrated pitchers in the game. His stuff is second behind none, he just needs to learn to relax and be patient on the mound. He has electric stuff with the potential to take no hitters late into games. BOL

Nice writeups (as usual), Sherwood.

Looking into how the 'Jays hitters fair against Garza, I notice he has only allowed 2 ER's since Aug. of 2006.....that's nearly 4 yrs..!! I"m liking your play even more...

Like The TB play.....

I liked the angels when I saw the pitching matchup and the LAA hot streak, but read about Saunders stats at TX ballpark. Concerned me a little as his era is high there.....

You mean that fact that he has an era at the site of 10.29 and is 0-4 there. Or the fact that as of yesterday the superb Angels rank 29Th worst in bullpen Whip. Or possibly the fact that this Hack Feldman pitched 6 innings of shutout ball at home against the Angels this year. Things like that?
Sherwood is doing a good job mostly this year and deserves credit for that but he has Never learned to be fair in write ups. Shame really.

Shame is Michael Jackson passing. Not so much Sherwoods writeups. You can throw out the stats tonight. When a team is hot, pitchers step up to match the bats. When a team is cold, same the other way. I just don't see this game going any other way than LAA winning easily. Texas bats have been lost for a couple of weeks and now they are pressing with their division rival in town. Just don't see them winning this one. GL
