Did the RX sell my email address?

I'm the dumbass who put it down, but I'm in medical school and have 1 professional email address that I made the mistake of putting down when I registered for this site.

Now I'm getting porn mail out the ass and it is really embarrassing. It's not funny when you got to open a powerpoint and have like 3 Viagra adds and all these adds for sportsbooks and casinos flooding your email.

I guess I should have known better. Am I totally screwed now? I have already requested a change of email address through the university.

I really hoped this place was better than that but unfortunately that does not appear to be the case. :>(

Probably some spammer bought a mailing list from a book.

Probably, but I used a hotmail account for all my other emails and my correspondence with my sports book. I looked through all my accounts and this forum is the only one that had that email registered to it. I normally know better but I am 100% positive that this is the only place I revealed that email.

Yeah it just sucks when you go to open a presentation and an email title says

"Viagra for you"
"Last Longer with the women of your dreams"
"Finally have satisfying sex"

That stuff can get old really fast, all the emails are .ca and they all have a space in the email subject so the spam filter doesn't pick up the coded words.

The emails also do not have a sent time.

I'm just looking for a legit answer. I do really like the forums here but I am a bit steamed about the embarrassment this caused me and wouldn't want to see that happen to other bettors, save the embarrassment for once the action is over!

if u think someone has to "buy" your email address to send you that crap, you are mistaken....

My mother gets that crap on her computer, and i can assure you she didnt register here, or at any porn site..

The Rx.com absolutely does not sell or give away any emails of it's posters. I have been a mod here going on six years and head mod for over four years and know for certain that TheRx.com has never sold an email during that time frame.

In your case your you posted it yourself on April 30th 2009. When you do that search spiders will find it and spam you.

Avon... for next time you can get a free email addy at hotmail or Gmail and use that one that why the spam goes there and you can just delete it ... never give your home email to sites

The only email address I use for the Rx and EOG is a yahoo address and I get all that crap in the mail. Just seems suspicious.

That is the same addy he registered with and the only one in our database. TheRx.com only has the single email address that Avon registered with and later posted in the Horse Forum himself.

Why is it so hard to believe that we do not give or sell our poster's emails addys to anyone. There are over 56,000 different email addresses in our data base.

Stuckinvegas registered prior to September of 2004 when the list, less than 20,000 back then, was contolled by the previous management.

I have posted this notice dozens of times on these forums:

CONTACTING OTHER POSTERS - NO EMAILS IN POSTS.

The Rx. does not allow posters to use private email addresses in threads in any of our moderated Forums..

If you post your email address anywhere on the site it will get picked up by crawlers. I have no choice but to post my email address and get all kinds of viagra, cialis, lottery win etc spam everyday.

I have never had any trouble with the RX. You have to be nuts to swish in here with claims. There is powerful hacker software out 'there' that will break your browser, copy files, and sometimes post all your emails on international sites (yep, I know from experience). Count your ass lucky that you just received a few viagra ads. You don't know the half of it.
