Chicago +1.10 over CLEVELAND http://www.pinnaclesports.com/?refer=xspwagers
The Indians are in a huge funk and it’s taking a big psychological bite out of them. They were down 4-0 before they came to bat last night and the game was virtually over before it started. The Tribe has now lost four in a row, six of seven and 13 of its last 16 games. To make matters worse last night, with the Indians down 11-4 going to the top of the seventh, had to endure a long rain delay in their misery and that, too, is mentally draining. The White Sox are loose, they’re winning games and they’re scoring plenty of runs these days. In fact, over the last 10 games the South Side are batting .308, which is the second best mark in the majors while the Indians are hitting .224 over that same stretch. The starters here have no influence whatsoever on this choice. Both are capable of getting rocked but there’s a huge difference in momentum, bullpen (Cleveland pen has allowed 19 earned runs in last 33 innings), offense and mental preparation and it’s not in the Indians favor. Play: Chicago +1.10 (Risking 2 units).

L.A. Angels –1.01 over TEXAS http://www.pinnaclesports.com/?refer=xspwagers
The Rangers broke out of a big offensive funk last night with nine runs but things won’t be as easy tonight against Jered Weaver. Weaver is among the leaders in all categories and that includes WHIP, ERA, wins, and strikeouts. Kevin Millwood has strong numbers too, make no mistake about that, however, his record against the Angels is mediocre at best, as his 2-4 record and 4.76 ERA over the past three years will attest to. He faced the Angels earlier in the year and although he picked up the win he still allowed nine hits in six innings for a BAA of .375. Furthermore, the Angels are still on fire with seven wins in its last eight and these Rangers have not shown an ability to hit top-notch pitchers over the last month. The Rangers rely heavily on the long ball but unlike Saunders last night, Weaver will not serve them up as easily. In fact, Weaver recently went six straight games without giving up a single jack and when he pitched here back in May he didn’t allow a bomb then either. The Rangers are just 16-23 against teams with a winning record and again, you always get a fair shake when you wager on this visitor. Weaver and the Angels laying a penny has to be considered a very decent bet. Play: L.A. Angels –1.01 (Risking 2.02 units to win 2).

Colorado +1.35 over LOS ANGELES http://www.pinnaclesports.com/?refer=xspwagers
Clayton Kershaws’ stock is at its highest point right now after a 0.96 ERA over his last three starts. Kershaw can be rock solid but he can also suffer huge lapses in concentration and when that happens he becomes very vulnerable. Kershaw has been known to go stretches where he can’t find the strike zone and it usually happens at least once a game for several batters. It’s a rare day when he doesn’t walk three or four batters in five innings. The Rockies faced him twice earlier in the year back in April and May when they were going bad and all they did was knock him around to the tune of 12 hits and 12 runs over 10.2 frames. This is the third time the Rockies will see him this year and this time around they’re playing outstanding ball. Jason Hammel went 4-0 with a 3.41 ERA over five June starts. On the road this season covering six starts and two relief appearances over 42.2 innings, Hammel is 4-1 with a 2.13 ERA. Over those 42.2 innings he’s allowed two bombs. The Rockies remain one of the hottest teams in the league and outside of a two-run single by pitcher Randy Wolf on Monday the Dodgers would be down 0-2 in this series. Play: Colorado +1.35 (Risking 2 units).

San Francisco +1.24 over ST. LOUIS http://www.pinnaclesports.com/?refer=xspwagers
There is always value on Matt Cain as a pooch and you can triple that against the Cardinals. In fact, the Giants are 9-1 in Cain’s last 10 starts and they’re 8-3 overall in their last 11 games. The Cardinals have been outscored 16-3 over the first two games of this series and have scored a lousy 20 runs over its last nine games. St. Louis is batting .198 while scoring 13 runs in its last seven games. The Cardinals are not a difficult team to beat as long as you don’t allow Pujols to beat you. Without Pujols the Cardinals are the worst team in the majors and it might not be close. He’s the only guy in that line-up that can hurt you. Adam Wainright is a quality pitcher but this has nothing to do with betting against him. This is all about talking back a price on one of the major’s best pitchers throwing against a bunch of second-rate hitters that couldn’t crack the line-up on about 90% of the teams in this league. Price and situation (the Cardinals have dropped six of seven) make this one a must play. Play: San Francisco +1.24 (Risking 2 units).

MILWAUKEE -1½ +1.03 over NY Mets http://www.pinnaclesports.com/?refer=xspwagers
The total is just 7½ and it’s risky to lay 1½ runs on a home team with a low posted total but damn, one has to wonder how the Mets are going to score anything against Yollandi Gallardo. Gallardo has some incredible numbers. In 97.2 innings he’s allowed a sick 69 hits for a BAA of 1.93. At Miller Park the league is hitting an even sicker .164 against him. He has 102 K’s, a 1.16 WHIP, a 2.86 ERA and just might be the toughest pitcher in the majors to beat. Meanwhile, the Mets couldn’t score runs off guys like Chien-Ming Wang and his 15.00 ERA or Mike Burns last night. They were recently shutout by the Cardinals Joel Pineiro and the list in ineptitude goes on and on. Furthermore, the Mets report that David Wright will get the day off and without him their chances of scoring on Gallardo or anyone else for that matter are slim at best. Mike Pelfrey appears to be gassed. He’s given up a ton of hits over his last five starts, (34 over his last 25 frames to be exact) and only once over that stretch has he made it through six innings. Strikeout pitchers beat the Brewers but Pelfrey is not one of those, as he has only 37 K’s on the year in 81 frames and chances are great that he’ll get knocked around here, as he did in his only start against the Brewers in which his ERA was 7.20. Play Milwaukee -1½ +1.03 (Risking 2 units).
