A key four-game series in the National League Central begins on Thursday night in Chicago as the Cubs host the Milwaukee Brewers. Seth McClung gets the start for Milwaukee while Ryan Dempster goes for Chicago. McClung is 3-1 on the season with a 3.55 ERA while Dempster is 4-5 with a 4.09 ERA.

SBG Globalreports that early MLB Betting has the public taking Cubs at Home.

McClung will be making only his second start of the season on Thursday. He gave up three runs on six hits in four innings on Saturday against the Giants. He has made 10 appearances against the Cubs in his career, all in relief, going 1-0 with a 2.55 ERA.

Dempster is happy to be back at home. In his last start on the road, he gave up five runs on eight hits against the White Sox. He is 3-1 with a 4.14 ERA at home this season.

The Brewers are looking to stay in first place in the National League Central and general manager Doug Melvin may be in the trade market. "I've always said I'm a little more motivated when you're doing better," Melvin said. The trade deadline is at the end of the month and Melvin is looking for help. It may not be easy this season considering a lot of teams are still in the race.
And the Brewers are also not willing to give up top prospects, Matt Gamel and shortstop Alcides Escobar. "I don't know if there's going to be an impact player available," Melvin said. "You never know, these things can change. There are years you think that nothing is going to happen, and all of a sudden there is a flurry of things going."
