Smoltz coming off leaving due to a rain delay after pitching 4 innings with a 9-1 lead over Baltimore. He had given up 3 hits, had 2 strikeouts, 1 walk with 52 pitches. This was his second outing, both on the road, the first against Washington where he pitched 5 innings giving up 5 runs, 7 hits, struckout 5 with 1 walk on 92 pitches. Tonight he has his first start at home against an Oakland squad that is terribly inconsisent. Anderson will be on the mound and is coming off decent outings in his last two starts but doesn't get much past 5 innings in most cases. In his last start, although winning, he threw 107 pitches in 5.1 innings, striking out 7 but walking 4. Sense here is that Smoltz will control the A's bats while the Red Sox gradually get to Anderson and pull clear when the bullpen arrives.

5* Boston -1.5 (+105) 5Dimes

Good luck everyone!
