When I turned 18, the only form of entertainment was to drive 20 miles to the reservation casino. After that, it just escalated.

Friend. I remember he asked me to come over for a 5 dollar poker game, I went all in on a 4 card ''straight.'' I always thought gambling was pointless before then, but to find out later on my grandpa was a pool hustler so I guess its in the genes..

think poster ILLINI had a big hand in it.

but i was watching my old man play the slots at the bar and bringing home the parlay cards from a young age so i'm sure that's what started it.

would think most would be a family member.

Worked as a cartboy/cook at a golf club. Club house guy was like a big brother he always put money on football games. One day I put my whole paycheck down on a game and he called the bookie for me; that was 12 years ago and so it goes...

As far as sports betting, a friend who years later became my bro-in-law, gave me my first parlay card. I hit a three teamer and have been hustlin ever since, 30 plus years later.

Poker and other games of chance? Father knows best.

My Mom (RIP) always took me to Atlantic City Race Track back in the sixties when I was about 9.....

My Grandmother always took me to the Steel Pier and Arcades on the boardwalk playing the carnival games...

My Father taught me how to shoot pool and throw darts along with schuffleboard....

I remember that, Canada is nice. A very good friend of mine is the PR guy for BC Lotteries.

He said it's such a balancing act, trying to say how fantastic gambling is but reminding people that they need to stay with in their limits.

Right now, because of the recession the Lotto Corp is making huge profits but he has to temper it. He'd love to say "People are going broke so they are turning to the lotteries for salvation so we are making an ass load of money right now."

But he's forced to say "Considering the current economic times we are doing as well as can be expected" While performing huge fist pumps off camera.
