I can well afford books but prefer the library. I'm just curious if the stores allow it.

Of course. In fact, they encourage it. Haven't you seen those advertisements, the ones saying "Read all the books you want and return them for a full refund. We don't mind at all." ?

That's almost as bad as buying a dress, wearing it then returning it. It's stealing IMO.

George was flagged for trying this let's not forget. Was your book ever in the bathroom?

How about the people that just sit in there and read books all afternoon and never make a purchase. I see that all the time.

You can buy used books on Amazon for peanuts, I have actually bought used books for as little as 35 cents, cost more to ship than it cost.
Example for anyone who has never read The Godfather used copys start at $1.99.

Are you being serious with this post? What a weird question and "no" they don't encourage you to return the book.

That's like going to the gas station, reading the newspaper and folding it back up and putting it back on the shelf.

here you go. i went to books a million today and bought a couple books. as it says on the back of the sales receipt:

"if you are not completely satisfied with your purchase, simply return it along with your original receipt within 14 days."

they will give you cash or check if purchase was made with a card.

gtc08 once purchased a book, realized he couldn't read, and then returned it. Does that count?

what would make a good novel about gambling? guy goes to vegas and loses everything has been done....guy tries to win a poker tourney to save grandfather's casino has been done....what would be a noble goal for someone to move to vegas for? i mean, nobody would care to read about a guy going there with no higher ambition than to get rich....say you have 50k, a one year timeline, and your objective would be to....
