The Tudors too.

Both HBO and Showtime are well worth the cost IMHO..I get every channel available (except a pay per view porn channel because three others (Playboy TV, Sexo Tropical and Playboy Movies only) are part of my channel package already and I hardly ever watch them on the cable netowork called Amnet here in Costa Rica.

Mainly I watch the various movie channels such as HBO, Showtime, Cinemax, Cinecanal, AMC, plus the educational channels like Discovery, National Geographic and a network channel called AXN and another called Universal which airs "House" re-runs 4 nights a week. We get CBS, NBC and ABC from the Denver Colorado area, why Denver, I have no idea I know Denver has some wild weather swings from their news broadcasts and frequent breakin with severe weather warnings.

You can rent a DVR and TIVO shows which is what I am doing today with the Golf Revisited Match.

I enjoy House as well. One of the few shows I watch on network TV.

First off i'm shocked that no one mentioned Band of Brothers. I personally know someone who was played in that series. His name is Babe Heffron and if you have seen Band of Brothers then you know who I am talking about. He said the show couldn't have been better put together. Band of Brothers IMO is right up there with the other top shows that HBO has ever put out.

Deadwood, Rome, and the Wire were so underrated in my opinion. The Sopranos and Sex and the City (Never watched Sex and The City but every girl in the world loves it) got all of the HBO limelight and deservingly so. Yes the Wire did get big towards the end, but when it first started I could hardly have a conversation about it with someone because hardly anyone I knew watched it. As far as Deadwood and Rome those shows were unreal and could of possibly been the best series' on HBO ever if not cut short, but at the same time I think they were also the two most expensive to make. I just wish they could have gone on a little longer.

But when old shows go new shows come. I think Hung has extraordinary potential and East Bound and Down is funny.

Other reasons that were not mentioned on why to get HBO:

Real Sports is one of my favorite shows of all time
Da Ali G show which is sometimes on Demand is hilarious
HBO Boxing always has great matches
Oz oldie but goodie
Curb Your Enthusiasm

One thing I always wondered was how much business boomed for the Cathouse after the show was ran on HBO.

I have never seen Band of Brothers, Rome or Deadwood. I'll have to keep an eye On Demand for Season 1 of both to start.

I loved Oz when it was first on, the first like 4 seasons were some of the best drama on TV ever, then the show kind of slipped when Sopranos took over, seemed like Oz was just an afterthought for HBO after that.

Band of brothers is one of the best Mini-series I have ever seen, definitely check it out if you can

I watch HBO and Showtime only for the shows. I have a personal DVD collection so I never watch the movies. I was thinking about canceling my premium package with Directv to avoid paying for the movie stations and just watch the shows on the internet. However it would only save me only like $10 a month because they have the premium stations packaged with the fox sports stations so I would need to pay an extra $15 a month to add the sports stations back onto my package.

There is a good show on the Starz network I like. It's called Party Down. Funny as shit.

HBO and showtime aren't worth the money in my opinion. All the movies are old and it takes too long for the new movies to be released.

All u really need to do is buy a chip or buy a box with a chip already in it and you'll get all the channels for free including all the porno and pay per view channels. I love it and it's great. i don't pay a freakin dime!!

Or you can rent the brand new movies from the redbox kiosks for FREE if you have a code. Send me a message 4 codes

I love Vampire shows and movies but True Blood didn't hook me. I watched the first 5 episodes and felt it was too much dialogue and the cliffhanger after each episode was a crappy soap opera ploy.

Buffy The Vampire Slayer (best show of all time), Angel and Kindred The Embraced were great vampire shows.
