Staying at the Affinia Manhattan located on Seventh Ave near MSG. Looking for some places to eat/drink and anything else worth our time around that area. Looking for good pasta, pizza and steaks. Give me some spots.

Can't say it is still there but used to be a bar called "Kellys" on 32nd or 33rd between 7th and 6th. Was a really fun place and not super outrageous.

First night I was walking there, walked right through the middle of a gang fight. Guy I was with said "just keep on walking" and the gang guys paid no attention to us.

Lots of great restaurants and bars within a few blocks of your location. Obviously, try to locate the establishments that cater to the local residents.

Have fun and report back on your experiences.

IMO: Great pizza--Little Italy Pizza, located on 43rd between 5th and Madison
Great pizza #2--Freddy & Peppers, located on Amsterdam between 74th and 75th Streets

My Favorite Steakhouses: Sparks Steakhouse, 46th Street between, 2nd & 3rd Avenues, Peter Lugar--Williamsburg, Bklyn (as mentioned above, though you will need to take a cab if you don't know where you are going), Old Homestead (the original one)--14th Street & 9th Avenue

Bars: Don't waste too much time at the bars around MSG. There are some good Irish bars/pubs around there, but you can find better places throughout NYC. Venture over to 3rd Avenue between 30th Street and 40th Street, some good places there. Avoid Times Square if you can, too many tourists. However, if you head over to 9th Avenue between 44th and 50th Streets, there are some good bars that will have more of the NY feel.

continued....

Bars: If you head downtown, Walkers is a nice neighborhood spot located in Tribeca at the corner of North Moore Street and W. Broadway. For shits and giggles you can checkout JFK, Jr.'s old pad right next door or the Ghostbusters Firehouse diagonally across the street. There is another small place in Tribeca, the Liquor Store, that has a definite NYC feel and won't be invaded with tourists.

If you are going to the Yankees game and are looking for some pre-game drinking, go to Stan's, Billy's, the Bowling Alley bar, and the Yankee Tavern to name a few. Just don't wander too many blocks from the Stadium, you'll see why.

Easiest way to the Stadium from your hotel: Jump on the B or the D subway train from 34th Street/Herald Square subway station. It is located only one avenue over from your hotel. Take to 161st/Yankee Stadium.
