Guy is a gamebreaker & probably underused in the offense.

What are they saying up there?

Leon Washington - RB - Jets
Leon Washington still considering a holdout
"I do not know," he said. "The situation is pretty much the same as it was in minicamp. Nothing has really changed." The NY Daily News calls the sides "far apart" in negotiations. The Jets have reportedly offered just $2 million annually, while Washington wants $6M a year. Jets camp opens July 30. July 14

Don't you think he would obviously settle for something in the middle though Viking?

The guy averaged 5.9 yards per carry last year & over 5 for his career & is a threat as a receiver as well.

He's a young Warrick Dunn & they are wasting his talent is my only "concern"....

I would say he's OK on special teams,LOL.He is the only big-play,home run hitter on this team.I would say pay the man. They had no problem paying Farve(somewhat understandable, but paid a nice price for Bubba Franks, who if he suited up at all, rarely played.

First, Outside of this Story.........One thing that us New Yorker's Don't do.
Is Read the Daily News....LOL

But this is True....and it's not just Washington. Also, Jones
But you have to understand Jones contract.
The way it was made, he made like $13Mil over 2 years, but the 3rd year of his contract calls for him to make Only $900,000

Washington on the other hand, is due to make $535,000 on his last year of a 4 year contract. ( Rookie when he signed it )
Is he due for a Raise ?? Yes.................$6 Mil per Year ?? NO
Why ?? Because like someone else said, he a 3rd down RB
Now Special teams is a Different story !

But is a Punt / Kick Returner worth $6 Mil a Year ?? NOOO (<)<

Explained coach Rex Ryan: "He had six touchdowns on 73 carries last year. That number has to go up -- drastically. And it will." Washington will have to add about 100 touches from scrimmage to reach that total.

</TD></TR><TR><TD vAlign=top colSpan=3>The Jets have increased their contract offer to Leon Washington "considerably," according to the New York Daily News.
The Jets' original offer was $2 million per year, or $4 million per year less than Washington was seeking. The new offer is believed to be in the neighborhood of $4.5 million annually, which seems like a fair compromise. No signing is imminent, but the team just cleared one huge hurdle.
